POLISARIO Front Representative in Denmark voices concerns of Saharawi side about Moroccan army recent escalation in occupied Western Sahara

Copenhagen (Denmark), August 29, 2014 –POLISARIO Representative in Denmark Mr. Abba Malainin has today held talks in the Danish Parliament (Folketinget) with Mr. Christian Juhl, member of the Danish Parliament and Foreign Affairs Spokesman of the Red-Green Alliance Party.

 

 

During the meeting, the Saharawi Representative voiced concerns of the Saharawi side about the recent Moroccan army escalation in occupied Western Sahara.

 

 

Prime Minister receives WFP’s country director in Algeria

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Aug 28, 2014 (SPS) - Prime Minister Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar received Wednesday at his office in Chahid Al Hafed, Saharawi refugee camps, the WFP’s country director in Algeria, Mr. Pedro Figueiredo.


The meeting focused on various areas of cooperation and the projects funded by the World Food Programme for the benefit of the Sahrawi refugees.

Saharawi students urged to join People’s Liberation Army (communiqué)

Awserd (refugee camps), Aug 27, 2014 (SPS) - The Participants in the 2nd Congress of the Union of Saharawi Students (UESARIO) urged Tuesday the Saharawi students to join the ranks of the Sahrawi People’s Liberation Army.


At the end of the work of the Congress, the delegates called on the Saharawi students to join the Saharawi People’s Liberation Army and move towards technical roles in order to develop the action in units of military institutions and review the option of the recovery of armed struggle.

Council of Ministers hails success of work of UESARIO 2nd Congress

Basque activists expelled from occupied El Aaiun

El Aaiun (occupied territories), Aug 27, 2014 (SPS) - Moroccan occupying authorities on Tuesday expelled 6 Basque activists from the occupied city of El Aaiun, capital of Western Sahara.


The six activists are Aratz urruzmendi, Jon Sarasola, Itziar Gomez Cruzado, Nora Ayerdi and Xabier Zurutuza.


The group was arrested for hours, before being thrown out of the city towards the Moroccan city of Agadir in a taxi car.

Young Saharawi dies in landmine explosion near occupied Boujdour

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Aug 27, 2014 (SPS) - The young Saharawi Abdallahi Ahmed Al-Kharchi on Monday died in a landmine blast, which occurred in Madalchiat, 50 km east of the occupied city of Boujdour in Western Sahara, said a Saharawi media source.


Like many areas in Western Sahara under the Moroccan occupation, Madalchiat is contaminated with thousands of anti-personnel landmines, which were planted by Moroccan army during the armed war against the Saharawi people.

UESARIO 2nd Congress: international community, responsible for impasse in Western Sahara

UESARIO elects new Secretary General

Awserd (Refugee Camps), August 26, 2014 (SPS) - The Students Union of Saguia El Hamra and Rio de Oro (UESARIO) elected Tuesday Moulay Brahim Mhamed the new secretary general of the organization during its II Congress held from August 23-25, in the wilaya of Awserd, Sahrawi refugee camps.

 

The Congress had been prolonged for 24 hours for holding the second round of the election because no candidate received the required minimum number of votes.(SPS)

Western Sahara: New round of negotiation depends on success of Ross next visit

Awserd (Refugee Camps), August 26, 2014 (SPS) - The opening of a new round of negotiation between the Polisario Front and Morocco will depend on the success of the next visit of the United Nations Secretary General's special envoy for Western Sahara, Christopher Ross, said the member of Polisario Front's Secretariat General and coordinator of the UN Mission for Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO).

Malta Prime Minister receives UJSARIO Secretary General

Valletta (Malta), August 24, 2014 (SPS) - Malta Prime Minister, Joseph Muscat, received the Secretary General of the Saharawi Youth Union (UJSARIO), Zein Sidahmed, during the opening ceremony of the International Festival of Socialist Youth (IUSY).

 

Mr. Zein leads a delegation of the Saharawi youth Union participating in the International Festival of IUSY held in Malta in the presence of thousands of young people from more than 100 countries worldwide.

 

Polisario Front condemns mistreatment of Sahrawi human rights delegation

UESARIO holds its Second Congress

More than 500 delegates and 200 representing students and youth organizations from countries around the world are invited to attend this event, as well as delegations from some Arab and African regional organizations.

 

Sahrawi activists delegation blocked at Casablanca airport

Casablanca (Morocco), August 22, 2014 (SPS) - A delegation of the occupied Sahrawi territories was blocked by the Moroccan police upon its arrival at the airport in Casablanca, upon its return from Algeria, according to official sources.   

 

The delegation took part in the work of the summer university of the Polisario Front and SADR officials, held in Boumerdes, Algeria, from 3 to 23 August 2014, under the name of Gdeim Izik.
