Oslo (Norway) December 24, 2014 (SPS) - The establishment of a parliamentary group of friends of Western Sahara at the Norwegian Parliament was announced Tuesday, with the aim of contributing to the defense of the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination.
According to a statement of the Polisario Front representation in Norway, this new group consists of a dozen of parliamentarians from five political parties (Labour Party, the Conservative Party, the Christian Democratic Party, the Liberal Party and the Socialist Left Party).
The group has defined two main goals for their work which are lobbying for permanent and independent human rights monitoring in the occupied territories of Western Sahara and defending the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination through a referendum supervised by the United Nations.
