Saharawi delegation received by Peruvian Deputy Foreign Minister

Lima, Nov 6, 2013 (SPS) - A Saharawi delegation, led by the Minister Delegate for Latin America Mr. Hash Ahmed, received Tuesday at the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the Deputy FM Mr. Fernando Rojas, according to a statement issued Tuesday.


The two sides discussed the latest developments on the question of Western Sahara, UN settlement plan, and the bilateral relation between the two countries, said the source.

African associations describes as “grave” Moroccan human rights against Saharawis

Algiers, Nov 5, 2013 (SPS) - Secretary General of the Pan African Federation of African Union Associations and Clubs, Tanga Abdou Fulgence Kabouri, said Tuesday that Morocco is committing “grave violations” of human rights against the Sahrawis in the occupied territories, describing the situation prevailing in the occupied Western Sahara as “the unbearable.”

Brussels, Nov 5, 2013 (SPS) - The request to extend the mandate of MINURSO (United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara) to include humans rights monitoring in Western Sahara is becoming more and more an “international issue” as the situation is “extremely serious and highly sensitive” in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, the Saharawi Minister Delegate for Europe, Mr. Mohamed Sidati, said Monday.

Boujdour (refugee camps), Nov 5, 2013 (SPS) - The Saharawi Art School “the School of the Martyr Salek Moulud Sidi” inaugurated today evening in the Wilaya of Boujdour, Saharawi refugee camps.


The inauguration ceremony was overseen by the Saharawi Minister of Culture Ms. Khadija Hamdi, and attended by the participants of ARTifariti.

Boujdour (refugee camps), Nov 5, 2013 (SPS) - The U.S. Professor of Fine Arts at New York University and President of the Popular Committee of Solidarity with the Saharawi People, Gobin, indicated Tuesday from the Saharawi refugee camps that art is a mean to defend human rights.


In a lecture presented on the sidelines of the VII International Encounters of Art and Human Rights in Western Sahara, the U.S Professor said that the message of art is “more eloquent” than political discourse.

UJSARIO calls on Morocco to “comply with international law”

Oslo, Nov 5, 2013 (SPS) - The Norwegian Support Committee for Western Sahara has reaffirmed its support to the struggle of the Saharawis people, in a ceremony organized on Monday in Oslo, capital of Norway, to mark its 20th anniversary.


The ceremony was attended by memebers of the Committee, as well as Norwegian parliamentarians, politicians and civil society activists.

London November 4, 2013 (SPS) - Human rights organization “ Adala UK ” expressed its concern Monday, following the serious deterioration in health of Sahrawi political prisoner Laroussi Abdeljalil Lemghaimed.

 

The Sahrawi prisoner’s health, detained in the prison of Salé, “has worsened considerably these days, because of the mistreatment meted out by the Moroccan authorities to Sahrawi prisoners,” the NGO’s branch, based in the Great Britain, said, underlining that Abdeljalil’s case requires to be taken care in a hospital with appropriate equipment.

Algiers, November 4, 2013 (SPS) - Morocco’s schemes against Algeria show "uncontrolled nervousness to create a diversion" about an "essential" issue, namely decolonization in Western Sahara, said Mohamed Sidati, the Saharawi delegate minister for Europe.

 

Sidati added that Morocco led an anachronistic and hackneyed diplomacy by seeking, at all costs, to involve Algeria in Western Sahara conflict. "The conflict is between two parties, namely the Polisario Front, as the legitimate representative of the Saharawi people, and Morocco."

Algiers, November 4, 2013 (SPS)  - The Algerian national press largely focused Sunday on the violation of the Consulate of Algeria in Casablanca (Morocco), describing this act as violation of the country’s sovereignty with the aim to exert pressure on Algeria to reopen its borders with the kingdom.

 

Le Jeune Indépendant said that this "deliberate" act is an "attack on the sovereignty of the country on November 1st, a historic date for the Algerian people."

Algiers, November 2, 2013 (SPS) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Algeria said, in its response to the Morocco’s recent actions, "there is no single country in the world that recognizes the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco on the territory of Western Sahara ," adding that Algeria is a neighboring country of Morocco and not a party to the conflict over Western Sahara , which is resolved by the United Nations.
