Saharawi political prisoners of Black jail stage alarming hunger strike

El Aaiun (occupied territories), Sept 1, 2012 (SPS) - The 11 Saharawi political prisoners, currently incarcerated in Black jail in occupied El Aaiun, started Friday a 24-hour alarming hunger strike in solidarity with the Saharawi political detainee Ghali Bouhala, who was assaulted and put in a solitary confinement in the same prison, quoted a statement of the Executive Bureau of the Collective of Saharawi Defenders of Human Rights (CODESA).

Chahid El Hafed (refugee camps), September 1, 2012 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Frente Polisario, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, headed Friday to Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopian, to attend the funeral ceremony of the late Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi.


The Saharawi Republic (SADR) has strong and close relations with the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopian, and there is an embassy of SADR in Addis Ababa accredited to Ethiopia and the African Union.

Shaheed Elhafed (refugee camp), Aug 30, 2012 (SPS) - President of Robert-Kennedy Centre for Justice and Human Rights Kerry Kennedy concluded Wednesday evening her visit to the Sahrawi refugee camps, where she inquired about living conditions in these camps and assessed human rights’ situation after her stay in El Ayun (the occupied capital of Western Sahara).

Shaheed Elhafed (refugee camp), Aug 30, 2012 (SPS) - Head of the Robert-Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights Kerry Kennedy, visiting Wednesday the Sahrawi refugee camps with a delegation made up of international human rights defense organizations, qualified as “remarkable” the organization of everyday life in these camps.

 

“I visited several refugee camps around the world but the organization of everyday life in the Sahrawi camps is remarkable,” Kennedy said after a meeting with representatives of the Saharawi civil society.

 

NAM reiterates support to right of Saharawi people to determination

Tehran, Aug 30, 2012 (SPS) - The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) reiterated Wednesday in Tehran, its support to struggle of the Saharawi people for their right to self-determination.

 

In a statement issued after a meeting at the level of Foreign Ministers, NAM devoted several paragraphs to the just cause of the Saharawi people, confirming previous resolutions and support for the implementation of United Nations resolutions on the Western Sahara conflict.

Shaheed Elhafed (refugee camp), Aug 30, 2012 (SPS) - President of the Republic and Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz has received Wednesday night the President of R F Kennedy Center of Justice and Human rights, Kerry Kennedy and her accompanying delegation which paid 24 hour visit to the Saharawi refugee camps.

 

The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Presidency attended by Prime Minister Members of the National Secretariat of Polisario Front and members of the government.

Shahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), August 29, 2012 (SPS) The Delegation of the RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights arrived on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday in  the Sahrawi refugee camps for a one day visit to assess the situation of Sahrawi refugees forced to flee from their homeland since 1975 because of Moroccan military invasion to Western Sahara.

Council of Ministers condemns Moroccan violation of human rights

Panama, August 27, 2012 (SPS) - A Saharawi delegation headed by the charge d'affaires of the Saharawi Embassy in Central America is attending the ninth congress of the Democratic Revolutionary Party of Panama (Spanish: Partido Revolucionario Democrático, or PRD), which kicked off Sunday, according to Saharawi diplomatic sources.
