RFK Centre delegation meets Saharawi human rights organizations in occupied El Aaiun

El Aaiun (refugee camps), August 25, 2012 (SPS) - Delegation of the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights met Saturday, at house of the Saharawi activist Ms. Aminatou Haidar, representatives of various Saharawi organizations of human rights.


The delegations met with the Collective of the Saharawi Defenders of Human Rights (CODESA), Saharawi Committee for the Support of UN Settlement Plan and Protection of Natural Resources of Western Sahara (CSPRON), the Committee for the Defence of the Right to Self-Determination for the People of Western Sahara (CODAPSO) and branch of the Moroccan Association for Human Rights in occupied El Aaiun, informed a media source from the city.


The meetings focused on the latest field developments and the grave violations the Saharawi people suffer as a result of their steadfastness and adherence to their inalienable right to self-determination and independence.


The delegation also informed about the excessive and illegal looting of Western Sahara natural resources by Moroccan state, while the Saharawi people live on the margins of unemployment, poverty and marginalization.


In a meeting with branch of the Moroccan Association for Human Rights in occupied El Aaiun, the delegation focused on the state of human rights in the region as whole, pointing to the flagrant violations and abuses of human rights committed by Moroccan state against Saharawi citizens, demanding their just and legitimate rights as included in the international charters and conventions ratified and signed by the Kingdom of Morocco.
