Algiers, Dec 25, 2012 (SPS)- France, which advocates the defence of human rights and the emancipation of peoples, is doing the opposite on the ground with the position it has adopted regarding the emancipation of the Saharawi people, said Monday in Algiers Professor at the University of Algiers III, Salah Saoud said.

Holding a conference at the geostrategic forum of the daily paper El Moudjahid on “the French policy in the Maghreb and its impact on the concerned peoples”, Saoud affirmed that “France advocates the defence of human rights and the emancipation of peoples, while on the ground, its policy is exactly the opposite of its speech, as testifies its active and permanent support to Morocco regarding the Western Sahara issue.”

“France has no interest to see a united and unified Maghreb,” he added.

“The French policy has never changed in its fundamentals in the Maghreb but only its mechanisms have changed to protect its interests,” he said.

He also recalled that France has always considered the region as “its territory” and “exclusive preserve”, because the countries that compose it represent “a key” for the control of Africa, according to him.(SPS)
