Moroccan forces attack Saharawi citizens in Matalaa District in occupied El Aaiun

El Aaiun (occupied territories), July 23, 2012 (SPS) - Moroccan forces of occupation attacked Sunday a group of Saharawi citizens in the District of Matalaa, occupied city of El Aaiun, after they attached a Saharawi national flag, informed a source of the Ministry of Occupied Territories and Communities Abroad.

International parties and organizations voices solidarity with struggle of Saharawi people for freedom and self-determination

Madrid, July 22, 2012 (SPS) - The General Union of Spanish Workers has organized in collaboration with POLISATIO office, Spanish youth organization and Association of Saharawi community of Aragon a two-days of general debate on various aspects of the Saharawi cause, most notably the roots of Western Sahara conflict, informed POLISARIO Office in Zaragoza.


The topic of armed struggle in Saguia El-Hamra and Oued Ed-Dahab and latest developments on the Saharawi question took large portion of the study days.

Spanish and Italian authorities asked POLISARIO to show prudence in case of European hostages (Ould Salek)

Rome, July 22, 2012 (SPS) - The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, said that immediately after the kidnapping of the three European cooperators, leaders of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic made contacts with their counterparts of Mauritania, Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso, as well as with the governments of Italy and Spain, adding to an Italian magazine “the Spanish and Italian authorities asked us to show an extreme prudence.”

Spanish deputies express satisfaction for release of European cooperators

Madrid, July 21, 2012 (SPS) - Spanish deputies from the Parliamentary Group “Peace and Freedom for the Saharawi People” have expressed satisfaction for the release of the cooperators, Spanish and an Italian, kidnapped last October from the Saharawi refugee camps, according to the Spanish Press Agency (EFE).


The deputies appreciated the steps taken by the government of Spain in this regard and the tremendous efforts made to free the hostages, the same source added.

Saharawi political prisoners in Tiznit prison start a warning hunger strike

Tiznit (Morocco) July18,2012(SPS) the Saharawi political prisoners in Tiznit prison(Morocco) on Tuesday started a warning hunger strike for 48hours to express their solidarity with the Saharawi political prisoners Sahel Rtemi and Issa Buda, who are in hunger strike in Moroccan prison of Ait Mellul, said a press release from the  Ministry of occupied territories and Communities.
 

The Saharawi political prisoners are:-Lahmam Salama, Mulay Ali Bouamud, Mahjub Ailal, Hassan Mohamed Lehsan, Sbaai Mohamed Fal and Mgaimiga Brahim Alkhalil.
 

President Mohamed Abdelaziz demands active role from AU in face of Morocco’s intransigence

AU Peace and Security Council concerned about stalemate in peace process in Western Sahara

Addis Ababa, July 16, 2012 (SPS) - Peace and Security Council of the African Union has voiced, in its report on peace and security in Africa, concern on the stalemate in the peace process in Western Sahara due to Morocco’s intransigence and its obstruction to the efforts made by the UN mediator Mr. Christopher Ross, aiming to reach a just, transparent and mutually agreed upon solution ensuring self-determination for the Saharawi people in the context of arrangements consistent with the principles, objectives and Charter of the United Nations.

South African Dlamini-Zuma elected AU Commission Chairperson

Addis Ababa, July 16, 2012 (SPS) - The South African Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma elected Sunday in Addis Ababa during the 19th Summit of Heads of States and Government of the African Union.


The South African, 62 years, elected in a fourth round of voting, where she won 37 votes, more than two-thirds needed according AU Commission election law, beating the Gabonese Dr. Jean Ping, 69 years, who have been on top of the Commission since 2008.
