Moroccan Democratic Approach Party renews support to Saharawi people’s right to self-determination (communiqué)

Casa Blanca (Morocco), July 16, 2012 (SPS) - The Democratic Approach Party of Morocco reiterated Sunday support to the struggle of the Saharawi people for freedom and self-determination, in a communiqué concluded its 3rd congress that took place in Casa Blanca, Morocco, from 13 to 15 July.


The Party stressed on the need “to sort out the question of Western Sahara on the basis of international legitimacy, which based on the principle of self-determination and adoption of the negotiations as well as peaceful solutions to avert the threat of war in the region, as to lay the foundations for the Maghreb of peoples, which constitutes an inescapable historical necessity.”


The Party also highlighted that the so-called Autonomy project proposed by Morocco has reached “impasse” after the Moroccan regime withdrew confidence from the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General for Western Sahara, Mr. Christopher Ross. (SPS)
