Attck on children of Saharawi activist Aminatou Haidar

El Aaiun (occupied territories), July 8, 2012 (SPS) - Children of the Saharawi activist of human rights Ms. Aminatou Haidar, the 17-year girl Hayat Al-Gasmi and 13year boy Mohamed Al-Gasmi, attacked Sunday morning by a group of Moroccans, in the road between Agadir’s Moroccan city and occupied Saharawi city of El Aaiun, informed a human rights source.

Saharawi delegation takes part at Forum of African Citizenship Front against return of Colonialism to Africa

Algiers, July 8, 2012 (SPS) - A Saharawi delegation took part Sunday at works of the Forum of African Citizenship Front for Democracy and against the Return of Colonialism to Africa, along with representatives of African states, as well as Algerian organizations and civil society.


The two-day forum is organized in the framework of the festivities commemorating the 50th anniversary of Algeria’s independence, and is attended by the Algerian National Committee of Solidarity with Sahrawi People (CNASPS).

WSRW requests UN to refrain from paying for Moroccan King in Western Sahara

Brussels, July 8, 2012 (SPS) - Western Sahara Resource Watch requested the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the United Nations, now considering supporting a project for the Moroccan King in occupied Western Sahara in partnership with German company Siemens, to reconsider the matter, in a communiqué published on its website.

Caracas (Venezuela), July 8, 2012 (SPS) - Participants of the 18th edition of Sao Paulo Forum, including movements and political parties, have criticized the obstructions of Moroccan state to the work and efforts of the UN aiming at conducting a self-determination referendum in Western Sahara, in a communiqué concluded the Forum that took place current July 4-5-6 in Caracas, in the presence of Saharawi delegation and 110 delegates from 60 states.

Shaheed Al Hafed (refugee camps), July 7, 2012 (SPS) - The new Special Representative of the UN Secretary General and Head of the UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (known as MINURSO), Mr. Wolfgang Weisbrod-Weber of Germany, arrived Friday in Tindouf, Algeria, after his investiture as a new special representative replacing the late Hany Abdel-Aziz of Egypt.


Mr. Weisbrod-Weber was received by the Saharawi Coordinator with the MINURSO, Mr. Mhamed Khaddad.

President Mohamed Abdelaziz hoped best wishes to his Mexican counterpart expressing willingness of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic(SADR) to strengthen ties of relationship that exist between SADR and Mexico since1979.(SPS)

27 school and Commune of Boumerdes sign twinning agreement

Boumerdes (Algeria) July05, 2012(SPS) - A twining agreement between 27 School (Saharawi refugee camps) and the coastal commune of Boumerdes has been signed Thursday in Boumerdes (50km east of Algiers).
 

The agreement was signed by the head of the People's Municipal Assembly (APC) of Boumerdes, Ouzerdine Mbarek, from the Algerian side, and by the governor, Alaaza Boudjedour, from the Sahrawi side.

“I acknowledge with thanks receipt of your kind message of condolence to me and the government of Nigeria over the recent tragic plane crash in Lagos,” President Goodluck writes to his counterpart Mohamed Abdelaziz.
 

Explosion of landmine kills Saharawi citizen near occupied city of Smara

Amgala ( occupied territories)July 4,2012(SPS)the Saharawi youth Mohamed Ben Abdulla nicknamed( Almakawi) has died in the hospital of Smara due to landmine explosion on Monday in the area of Amgala, southern east Smara city, according to the ministry of occupied territories and Communities.
   

The victim was driving a car (Land rover) with another guy when the landmine exploded and they were severely wounded and transferred to the hospital of Smara where he died while the other remains suffering in the hospital.
 

UNHCR organizes confidence building seminar in the Azores

 Azores (Portugal) July03, 2012(SPS) A UNHCR facilitated seminar began Tuesday  involving 33 people from the Saharawi refugee  camps  in Algeria and the Western Sahara Territory as well as representatives from the Moroccan Government and the FrentePolisario. SPS learns in release from UNHCR.  
 

The seminar which taking place on the Portuguese Azores islands is organised by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), with the support of the Government of Portugal.
 

France should adopt "positive" position regarding Sahrawi cause, says PM

Boumerdes (Algeria)July02,2012(SPS) -  Prime Minister of Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) Abdelkader Taleb Omar called on France to adopt "positive" position regarding the Sahrawi cause, "commensurate with its place on the international scene and its responsibilities as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, guarantor of international legitimacy," he said Monday at the opening of the third Summer School of Polisario Front and SADR executives in Boumerdes (50-km east of Algiers).

Establishment of new municipalities in Saharawi liberated territories

Bir Lehlou (liberated territories), July 1, 2012 (SPS) - Minister of Construction and Urbanization of the Liberated Territories, Mr. Ballahi Siyad, announced the establishment of new municipalities in Mijek, Dougaj and Agwainit, Saharawi liberated territories, at the end of a seven-day visit led him along with ministerial delegation to Saharawi liberated territories.


The delegations inspected schools, hospitals and farms in Mijek, Tifariti, Mheiriz, Bir Tigisit and Bir Lehlou.
