Sahrawi Foreign Minister on a working visit to Cuba

Havana (Cuba), June 7, 2015 (SPS) - Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould salek visited on Thursday the Republic of Cuba; where he was received by his Cuban counterpart, Mr. Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, they discussed the ties between the two countries and exchange views about regional and international issues. The meeting was attended by Saharawi Ambassador Mr. Malainin Etgana.

 

PM. David Cameron urged to intervene to bring justice to Haidala (letter)

London, 05/06/2015 (SPS).- “Friends of Western Sahara”, a British NGO based in north Wales, has stressed on the urgent need to intervene before the Moroccan authorities to bring justice to Takbar Haddi, the mother of Mohamed Lamine Haidala, a young Saharawi who was killed by Moroccan settlers.

AU urges UNSC to take necessary decisions on Western Sahara conflict

Abuja, June 3, 2015 (SPS) - President of Zimbabwe and current Chairperson of the African Union (AU), Mr. Robert Mugabe, has called on the United Nations Security Council to take all necessary decisions to resolve the conflict of Western Sahara, demanding “comprehensive review” to the negotiations framework set forth in 2007 in order to hold a referendum to overcome the current stalemate.

UESARIO Secretary General concludes his visit to Cuba

Havana, June 03, 2015 (SPS) - Secretary General of the Saharawi Students’ Union (UESARIO) and Member of the Polisario Front’s National Secretariat, Mulay Mhamed Brahim Saleh, has concluded his visit to Cuba by holding a meeting with the Sahrawi Students League and the Embassy in Cuba.


During The meeting, he disseminated the results of the last National Secretariat meeting and the latest developments on the Saharawi cause at the international and local levels.

New batch joins ranks of Saharawi National Police

El Aaiun (refugee camps), June 3, 2015 (SPS) - A new batch, bearing the name of Martyr Kenti Mohamed Kori, third of its kind, on Tuesday joined the ranks of the Saharawi National Police.


The batch was trained on how to maintain the security of citizens and ensure the respect for the internationally-recognized principles of human rights.

PM criticizes UN’s failure to complete decolonization of Western Sahara

Re-establishment of Western Sahara parliamentary group in US Congress

Washington, June 02, 2015 (SPS) - The United States Congress has approved on Monday the U.S. parliamentary group of solidarity with the Saharawi people called “Western Sahara Caucus, after the group renewed its structures last November.


For a press release issued on Monday, presidency of the Caucus is now chaired by Congressmen John Conyers of the Democratic Party, and Mr. Joseph R. Pitts of the Republican Party.

Decolonization of Western Sahara, focus of international conference in Abuja

Abuja, June 2, 2015 (SPS) - The decolonization of Western Sahara will be the focus of an international conference taking place from 2-4 June in the Nigerian capital, Abuja, to which more than 600 participants are expected to debate several themes related to the Moroccan colonization of Western Sahara.


Organized by the Academic Staff Union of Universities of Nigeria, this “important conference” will gather academics, civil society actors, NGOs and committees of solidarity with the Sahrawi people from Africa, Europe and the Americas.

Nigeria spares no effort for respect of Saharawi people's right to self-determination

Abuja (Nigeria), 31 May 2015 (SPS) - Nigeria will spare no effort to ensure respect of Western Sahara people's right to self-determination and liberty," President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria said while receiving Sunday Saharawi Prime Minister Abdelkader Taleb Oumar in Abuja.

 

 The Nigerian president said "Nigeria, through its history of support to peoples and liberation movements in Africa, will spare no effort to ensure respect for Saharawi people's right to self-determination and liberty."

 

Strong condemnation in Peru of Morocco's "genocidal" policy against Saharawi people

Lima (Peru), 31 May 2015 (SPS) - Participants in a recent seminar organized by the Federation of Journalists of the Peruvian province of Ica, condemned the policy of "genocide" undertaken by Morocco against the Saharawi people, calling for the completion of the decolonization process in Western Sahara through the holding of a free referendum for the Saharawi people to allow them freely exercise their right to self-determination.

 Shaheed Elhafed, May 31, 2015 (SPS) - President of the Saharawi Red Crescent Bouhoubeini Yahya received Sunday at the headquarters of his organization a delegation of International Handicap, on a working visit for some days in the Saharawi refugee camps.

 

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on the humanitarian needs of the Sahrawi refugees, in particular the disabled and mines victims.

Shaheed Elhafed (Refugee Camps), 31 May 2015 (SPS) - President of Sahrawi Red Crescent Bouhabeini Yahya confirmed Sunday the break in the arrival of humanitarian aid to the Saharawi refugee camps from the donor agencies, in reply to the national media on the results of the recent visit by a delegation of the embassies of the donor countries to the Sahrawi refugee camps, and what has been reported by the Spanish media that the government will increase its humanitarian aid to the Sahrawi refugees.

Chahid El Hafed, May 29, 2015 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Frente Polisario Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz on Wednesday sent a letter to the High Commissioner of the United Nations for Human Rights, Mr. Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein, concerning the violations of human rights committed by Morocco against the Saharawi people and the visit conducted on April 2015 by a UNHCHR’s technical mission to the occupied Saharawi cities of El Aaiun and Dajla.
