June 9th School (refugee camps), August 26, 2015 (SPS) - The Saharawi National Council (parliament) has decided to form a Saharawi-Mauritanian parliamentary committee for friendship and brotherhood, said a statement issued on Wednesday.

“Given the similarities between the Saharawi and Mauritanian peoples, the Saharawi National Council has decided to form a parliamentary committee for friendship, in line with the same spirit shown by the Mauritanian National Assembly in establishing an inter-parliamentary group,” highlighted the statement.

The committee is chaired by MP Sadum Mohamed Ali Salem, and composed of 10 other Saharawi parliamentarians.

For the statement, the move aims at strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and mutual relations between both countries and parliaments, as to promote democracy and peoples’ right to self-determination. (SPS)
