Nigerian delegation on visit to Sahrawi refugee camps

Abuja (Nigeria), March 2, 2014 (SPS) - A high-level Nigerian delegation visits Tuesday the Sahrawi refugee camps to deliver aid donation for Sahrawi women, according to the Sahrawi embassy in Abuja.
 
The Sahrawi ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Abbi Bashir Bushraya, indicated in a statement to SPS that the ministrial delegation will deliver humanitarian aid donated by the First Lady, Mrs.

Shaheed Hafed (Refugee Camps), March 1, 2014 (SPS) -  A delegation of the Republic of Uruguay continued Saturday a solidarity visit to the Sahrawi refugee camps marked by meetings with Sahrawi officials and visiting  some facilities, according to the agenda of the visit. 
 
The delegation of the Republic of Uruguay included Mr. Gustavo Pacheco, Director General for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Pablo Alvarez, Director General of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Mr.

France urged to change stance on Western Sahara

Paris (France), March 1, 2014 (SPS) - Dozens of Sahrawis and representatives of French associations support Sahrawi people staged a rally Thursday in Paris, near the Quai d’Orsay, a symbolic place of French diplomacy, to call on France to change its position over Western Sahara conflict and to support Sahrawi people’s self-determination.

 

The protestors called the French government to exhort pressure on Moroccan authorities to bring it to put an end to its repressive policy against Western Sahara people and not to ignore their legitimate rights

 

Washington criticizes Morocco's violations of Saharawi people's human rights

Washington (United States) , March 1, 2014 (SPS) - The United States has once again criticized Morocco's violation of Saharawi people' human rights in the occupied Saharawi territories, dubbing them "serious problems" which, in addition to physical and verbal abuse, includes repressive methods to quell dissent and self-determination demands by pro-independence associations.

SADR flag raised in many Australian cities to mark 38th anniversary

Canberra, Feb 28, 2014 (SPS) - Flag of the Saharawi Republic (SADR) was raised at top of many buildings in many Australian cities to mark the 38th anniversary of the proclamation of SADR, informed Polisario Front’s office there.


In this regard, the Saharawi flag was raised on Balmain Town Hall (New South Wales), Fremantle Town Hall (Western Australia), Morlenad City Council (Victoria), Yarra City Council (Victoria), Ballarat Trades Hall (Victoria), Geelong Trdes Hall (Victoria) and Victorian Australian Workers Union (Melbourne office).

President of Republic concludes one-day visit to Nigeria

Abuja, Feb 27, 2014 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz concluded Thursday’s morning a one-day visit to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, after he took part at an international summit on human security, convened in Abuja in parallel with Nigeria’s centenary celebrations.


The President Mohamed Abdelaziz visited Nigeria at an official invitation by H.E. Mr. Goodluck Jonathan, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Boujdour (refugee camps), Feb 27, 2014 (SPS) - The Sahrawi Prime Minister Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar thanked Thursday Algeria for its support to the struggle of the Sahrawi people for their right to self-determination.


“We thank the Algerian State and President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika for their support to the Sahrawi cause,” said Saharawi PM, in a speech delivered on the occasion of the festivities celebrating the 38th anniversary of the proclamation of the Sahrawi Republic (SADR).

Icelandic Parliament urges FM to plead for Saharawi self-determination internationally

Reykjavík, Feb 27, 2014 (SPS) - Icelandic Parliament’s foreign affairs committee has urged the Foreign Affairs Minister Mr. Gunnar Bragi Sveinsson to actively promote a policy that that support Saharawi people’s right to self-determination at the international level, according to the Icelandic Review.


In a new version of its report, the Icelandic parliament’s foreign affairs committee recommended that the resolution supporting the self-determination of Western Sahara inhabitants be accepted, stated the same source.

Petition to demand extension of MINURSO mandate for human rights monitoring

Saharawi Republic was declared on 27th February 1976, just one day following the withdrawal of the last Spanish soldier from Western Sahara, to act as a government in exile.

British MPs urge government to work in favour of extending MINURSO mandate

London, Feb 26, 2014 (SPS) - A group of British parliamentarians have sent a letter to the Prime Minister David Cameron, urging him to work in favour of including human rights monitoring to the mandate of the UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO), when to be renewed next April.
