Launch of 6th Training Session of Sahrawi Imams on "Origins of Belief"

Paramedical School (Refugee Camps), June 7, 2014 (SPS) – The 6th Training Session of Sahrawi Imams launched Saturday in the Paramedical School, refugees camps, in the presence of Minister of Justice and Religious Affairs Hamada Selma, directors of religious affairs and imams of mosques in the Wilayas and institutions.

 

The training session addresses the "origins of belief" and is supervised by Dr. Selim Ben Safia, from brotherly Algeria.   

 

Meeting of Preparatory Committee for creation of Saharawi Social Forum

Shaheed El Hafed, June 8, 2014 (SPS) - The Preparatory Committee of the Sahrawi Social Forum held its first meeting Saturday at the headquarters of the AFAPREDESA chaired by Secretary General of the UJTSARIO Mohammed Sheikh Mohamed Lahbib.

 

The meeting reviewed the preparatory document which was presented on the sidelines of the 11th edition of Fisahara and the formation of working groups distributed by members of the Preparatory Committee to administration, organization, information, human rights, workshops and external relations.

 

Repression of peaceful demonstration leaves casualties in occupied El Aaiun

El Aaiun (Occupied Territories), June 7, 2014 (SPS) – Many people were injured following “violent” intervention of Moroccan forces against a peaceful demonstration organized Friday by Sahrawi citizens  in the occupied  city of El Aaiun, according to the Ministry of the Occupied Territories and Communities Abroad.

 

The peaceful demonstration demanded the release of all Sahrawi political prisoners, indicated the same source.(SPS)

Norwegian Foreign Minister reaffirms support of Saharawi people’s right to self-determination

Oslo (Norway), June 7, 2014 (SPS) - Norwegian Foreign Minister Mr. Borge Brende has reaffirmed his country’s position in support of the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination.

 

This came in a response Thursday during session in the Norwegian parliament to a question submitted by MP and leader of the Norwegian Liberal Party Ms. Skei Grande on Norway's role to reinstate the process of decolonization of the Western Sahara as the last colony in Africa.

 

Seizure of considerable amount of processed cannabis coming from Morocco

Shaheed Hafed, June 7, 2014 (SPS) - The Ministry of Defense exhibited  Friday 975 kilograms of processed cannabis, seized by the Sahrawi  People's Liberation Army  during the years of 2012, 2013 and 2014 through points along the Moroccan military wall, which divides the Western Sahara and separates its people.

 

Cooperation agreement signed between Tifariti, U.S Logos De Columbia universities

  Algiers, June 6, 2014 (SPS) – An agreement of cooperation was signed Thursday at the Sahrawi Embassy in Algiers between the universities of Tifariti and US Logos De Columbia by the deans  of both universities respectively, Khatari Hmoudi and Dr. Edgar Eduardo Prada, in  the presence of the Sahrawi Ambassador, Ibrahim Ghali.

 

The first part of the agreement is related to exchange of experiences, training of professors and students as well as contribution to building a basic infrastructure of higher education in the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic.

Moroccan authorities deport two Italian journalists from occupied El Aaiun

El Aaiun (Occupied Territories), June 6, 2014 (SPS) – The Moroccan authorities deported Thursday two Italian journalists from the occupied city of El Aaiun who intended to make a documentary about the resistance of the Saharawi people inside the occupied territories, according to the Ministry of the Occupied Territories and Community Abroad.  

 

Moroccan security forces stopped the two journalists, ordered them to leave and informed them that they would be interrogated and deported to Agadir, Morocco, said the source.

 

Namibian President reaffirms support for Saharawi people’s right

Windhoek, June 5, 2014 (SPS) - Namibian President Hifikepunye Pohamba reiterated his country's support to the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and independence, during his meeting Wednesday with the Secretary General of the National Union of Sahrawi women, Fatma Mehdi.  

 

President Hifikepunye Pohamba emphasized that the Namibian people under the leadership of SWAPO will continue to support the Saharawi people until the liberation of the last colony in Africa which is Western Sahara.

 

President of Republic concludes visit to Cuba

 Havana (Cuba), June 4, 2014 (SPS) - President of the Republic,Secretary General of the Polisario Front Mohamed Abdelaziz concluded his visit to the Republic of Cuba which lasted two days.

 

The visit was marked by the important meeting with the President of the Republic of Cuba, His Excellency Raul Castro, in the presence of high-ranking officials from both sides, Cuban and Sahrawi.

 

Algeria will continue to stand by Saharawi people (Abdelmalek Sellal)

Algiers, June 4, 2014 (SPS) - Algerian Prime Minister Mr. Abdelmalek Sellal, has expressed Algeria’s firm support to the Saharawi people and its legitimate right to self-determination and independence.

 

In a reply letter to his Sahrawi counterpart Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar,Mr. Sellalalso expressed the will to promote cooperation between the two brotherly countries. (SPS)

More than 6000 children benefit of “holiday in peace” programme (Official)

Shaheed Hafed, June 4, 2014 (SPS) - Minister of Youth and Sports Mr. Mohammed Moloud Mohamed Fadel indicated Tuesday that the total number of children who will benefit from “holiday in peace” programme for the summer 2014 has reached 5143 children, hosted by European organizations and associations of solidarity with the Saharawi people, in addition to 1000 children will be hosted by the brotherly country of Algeria.

 

President of Republic meets with his Cuban counterpart

Havana, June 3, 2014 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz, was received Monday afternoon by Army General Raul Castro Ruz, President of the Council of State and Ministers of Cuba.

 

The fraternal meeting between the two Heads of State reaffirmed the historical friendship relations between the two countries and support of Cuba to a just and lasting solution to the question of Western Sahara, in order to ensure self-determination of the Saharawi people.

 

El Salvador affirms support to Sahrawis’ right to self-determination

 SAN SALVADOR (Salvador), June 3, 2014 (SPS) - Speaker of Parliament of El Salvador Siegfried Reyes affirmed his country’s support to the Sahrawi people right to self-determination and independence in conformity with the UN Charter and Resolutions.

 

During a meeting with President of the Sahrawi Republic Mohamed Abdelaziz, Secretary General of Polisario Front, Salvadoran MP said that his country supports Sahrawi people fight for decolonization and self-determination, the same source added.

San Salvador, June 1, 2014 (SPS) - The Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) has expressed its willingness to maintain stronger relations with the Republic of El Salvador, during the visit of President Mohamed Abdelaziz who met Saturday with the El Salvador Speaker of the Parliament, Mr. Siegfried Reyes.
