SADR takes part at meeting on justice, legal affairs and human rights

Addis Ababa, May 14, 2014 (SPS) - Saharawi Republic (SADR) has participated to the 1st session of the Government Legal Experts of Specialized Technical Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs, which took place in Addis Ababa on May 6-14, 2014.


SADR was represented at this meeting by Mr. Abba Al-Heisan, members of the Constitutional Council and Secretary General of Saharawi Jurists Union, along with Mr. Mohamed Al-Mahjub Abdallahi.

“A Flower Instead of Every Mine,” campaign on mine dangers in Western Sahara

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), May 14, 2014 (SPS) - Artists and activists of many countries in America, Europe and even Morocco have joined an awareness campaign about dangers of mines and against the separation military wall set up by the Moroccan occupation forces in Western Sahara.


The coordinator of the artistic project “A Flower Instead of Every Mine,” Moulud Yeslam, underlined that the idea consists of collecting millions of flowers instead of every mines.

Polisario Front welcomes appointment of Kim Bolduc as head of MINURSO

President of Republic consoles family of Frank Ruddy

Shaheed Hafed, May 12, 2014 (SPS) - President of the Republic Secretary General of Polisario Front Mohamed Abdelaziz sent a letter of condolence to the family of U.S. diplomat Frank Ruddy Who died Wednesday due to renal failure.

 

The President of the Republic expressed his condolences to the bereaved family, applauding the position of the deceased in favor of the rights of peoples in all international forums.

 

Colombian Senate calls its government to recognize SADR

BOGOTA (Columbia), May 12, 2014 (SPS) - Columbian Senate has called its government to recognize the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) and boost relations with this country in a resolution addressed Saturday to the president of Columbia, Juan Manuel Santos.

 

The Columbian Senate has adopted a resolution asking the Columbian government to recognize the SADR, boost bilateral relations and defend human rights in Western Sahara.

 

Saharawi people commemorate 41th anniversary of establishment of Frente POLISARIO

Shaheed El Hafed, May 10, 2014 (SPS) The Saharawi people commemorated Saturday the 41st anniversary of the establishment of the Frente POLISARIO (Polisario Front) through the organisation of several popular meetings, conferences and rallies of solidarity with the Saharawi political prisoners languishing in Moroccan prisons.

 

The Wilaya of Smara hosted the main event of the anniversary of the establishment of the Frente Polisario, the sole legitimate representative of the Saharawi people. (SPS)

Danish Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee adopted a new report on Western Sahara

Copenhagen (Denmark), May 10, 2014 (SPS) - Denmark Parliament adopts recently new policy on Western Sahara.

 

”The report sends a clear signal to Morocco that we will not turn a blind eye to their repeated human rights violations in Western Sahara,” Christian Juhl from the Danish party the Red-Green Alliance said in a press statement Saturday, commenting on the Danish Foreign Affairs Committee’s newly adopted report on Western Sahara.

 

Colombian Senate calls government to recognise SADR

Seinäjoki (Finland), 05/10/14 (SPS) - A Saharawi delegation led by Minister of Cooperation Brahim Mokhtar and Polisario Front representative in Finland Mena Lehbib took part in the XXIV Congress of the Finnish Social Democratic Party (SDP).

 

The Saharawi delegation participated in several activities on the sidelines of the conference sessions including a lunch organized by the Finnish Foreign Minister in honor of the foreign delegations. SPS

UN called to immediately apply its resolutions on Western Sahara (conference)

Ljubljana, May 8, 2014 (SPS) - The Participants of the 4th Solidarity Conference in support of the people of Western Sahara, held in Ljubljana on Tuesday, have called, in a communiqué issued at the end of the conference, the United Nations (UN) to “immediately apply their resolutions on the Western Sahara by organizing a referendum on self-determination.”

Saharawi people prepare to commemorate 41th anniversary of Polisario Front

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps) May 6, 2012 (SPS) - The Saharawi people is preparing to celebrate Saturday the 41th anniversary of the establishment of the Polisario Front on May 10, 1973.


The Polisario Front initiated the armed struggle 20 May 1973 contra the Spanish colonialism and continued following the Moroccan invasion in 1975 until the United Nations brokered the sease of fire in 1991 which still in effect.

Four Norwegian citizens thrown out of occupied El Aaiun

El Aaiun (occupied territories), May 6, 2014 (SPS) - Four Norwegian citizens were thrown out of the occupied city of El Aaiun, capital of Western Sahara, by Moroccan occupying authorities at 00:00 am on Monday night.


The group was comprised of the Bergen Labour Party deputy Rasmus Laupsa Ramussen, former Bergen Young Labour leader Natalie Milde, Dan Marius Svendsen and Lone Lunemann.

Austria, May 5, 2014 (SPS) - A delegation of the the Sahrawi Youth Union  took part to the 35th Congress of Austrian Socialist Youth held May 2-3, under the theme "Money for education, not for banks."

 

The Congress zqs marked by numerous interventions on the role of youth and their responsibilities in the era of globalization , where the Sahrawi delegation made a speech about the Western Sahara, the last colony in Africa.

 

SADR warns against Moroccan and EU plunder of Saharawi fishing resources

ADDIS ABABA, May 4, 2014 (SPS) - The Saharawi Minister of Development and agriculture, Naama Saaid Jamani, warned on Wednesday 30 April, during the meeting of the AU Joint Meeting of Ministers of Agriculture, fisheries and aquaculture meeting between the 28th of April to 2 of May, against the Moroccan and European Union’s systematic plunder of the Saharawi fisheries in total violation of the International law.

ADDIS ABABA, May 4, 2014 (SPS) - Saharawi delegation chaired by the Minister of Development and Agriculture, Naama Said Jamani, participated to the meetings of the Conference of Ministers of Agriculture, Rural Development, Fisheries and Aquaculture between 28 April and 2 May, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

 

The Saharawi Minister was accompanied by the Permanent Representative of the SADR in AU and Ethiopia, Lamine Baali, and members of the Saharawi diplomatic corps Mr. Sid Ahmed and Ms. Maria Iid Saila.
