President of Republic meets with his Cuban counterpart

Havana, June 3, 2014 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz, was received Monday afternoon by Army General Raul Castro Ruz, President of the Council of State and Ministers of Cuba.

 

The fraternal meeting between the two Heads of State reaffirmed the historical friendship relations between the two countries and support of Cuba to a just and lasting solution to the question of Western Sahara, in order to ensure self-determination of the Saharawi people.

 

Both parties have the opportunity to exchange views on issues of common interest on the international agenda.

 

The President of the Republic praised highly Cuba's solidarity with the just cause of the Saharawi people to self-determination and independence.

 

The meeting was attended from the Saharawi side by Salem Ould Salek, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Melainine Etghana, ambassador to Cuba, and from the Cuban side by Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla.

 

The President of the Republic arrived Monday in Havana following a visit to El Salvador where he attended the investiture of the new president-elect Sanchez Ceren, it should be recalled. (SPS)
