Colombian senator asks government to energize bilateral relations with SADR

Smara (refugee camps), June 21, 2014 (SPS) - Member of the Colombian Senator Mr. Jorge Enrique Robledo has asked the government of his country to revive the bilateral relations with the Saharawi Republic (SADR).


In a reception in honour of the Colombian Senate's delegation, which visits the Saharawi refugee camps, Mr. Robledo, also spokesman of the Colombian Left Alliance Party, urged his country's government to strengthen relations with SADR so to serve the interests of both brotherly peoples.

Smara (refugee camps), June 21, 2014 (SPS) - A delegation of the Colombian Senate arrived yesterday, Friday, in the Saharawi refugee camps as part of a visit of solidarity with the Saharawi people.


The delegation visited today, Saturday, the Wilaya of Smara, fir leg of their visit to the Saharawi refugee camps, where they received by Governor Mr. Adda Hmeim, as well as officials and cadres of Smara.

New report listing clients involved in Morocco's plunder of Saharawi resources

Stockholm, June 21, 2014 (SPS) - Western Sahara Resource Watch (WSRW) published today, Saturday, a complete report listing all the clients, volumes, values and shipments relating to Morocco's exports of phosphate rock from occupied Western Sahara.


Entitled "Fuelling the Occupation", he report is made on the basis of tracking and analysing 109 bulk vessels that arrived port in El Aaiun, Western Sahara.

WSRW urges Wisby Tankers AB to terminate trade in occupied Western Sahara

Stockholm, June 21, 2014 (SPS) - Western Sahara Resource Watch (WSRW) has urged the company Wisby Tankers AB to terminate trade in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, calling on the Swedish government to advice against Swedish business involvement in the territory.


This call made in a report published today, Saturday, by WSRW outlining the transports of petroleum products into occupied Western Sahara, especially by the Swedish shipping company Wisby Tankers.

EU-Morocco Fisheries Agreement: Polisario Front recourse published in EU Official Journal

Brussels, June 21, 2014 (SPS) - The recourse for the annulment of the EU-Morocco Fesheries Agreement presented to the European Court of Justice by the Polisario Front 14 March was published on 16 June 2014 in the Official Journal of the European Union under the code (Case T-180/14).


In its appeal, the Polisario Front called on the Court to annul afro-mentioned agreement and condemn decision taken by the Council of the European Union in this regard.

Saharawi activist Mohamed Dadech arrested by Moroccan police

Tánger (Morocco), June 21, 2014 (SPS) - The Saharawi activist of human rights, Mohamed Dadech, was arrested Thursday by the Moroccan occupation police at Tánger port, in his way to Spain.


It was until evening that the Moroccan police freed Mohamed Dadech, after being investigated and having his passport confiscated.


Dadech is the oldest Saharawi political prisoner, where he spent 23 years behind bars.

Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination reaffirmed in Algiers (conference)

Algiers, June 20, 2014 (SPS) - The right of Sahrawi people to self-determination has been strongly reaffirmed Thursday in Algiers at the conference of support and solidarity, organized by the National Organization for Solidarity (ONSA).


“The cause of Sahrawi people deserves greater and more effective mobilization, in accordance with the international law,” he head of ONSA, Karoun Tahar said in his opening address.

Ambassador Hamadi Bachir presents credentials to President of South Sudan

Juba, June 19, 2014 (SPS) - Mr. Hamadi Bachir presented yesterday, Wednesday, his letter of credence to the President of the Republic of South Sudan H.E. Mr. Salva Kiir Mayardit as an extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Saharawi Republic (SADR) in Juba.


In a reception held at the Presidency of the Republic of South Sudan in Juba, the Saharawi ambassador conveyed to President Mayardit the greetings of his Saharawi counterpart Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz.

Trial of Saharawi political prisoners adjourned to 2 July

El Aaiun (occupied territories), June 18, 2014 (SPS) - The criminal chamber of the Moroccan Court of Appeal adjourned Wednesday the trial of three Saharawi political prisoners until July 1st, said a Saharawi right source.


The group consists of Abdelmotaleb Sarir, Mohamed Babr and Aliyen Mosawi.


The three political prisoners were flimsily charged with forming criminal gangs, put up barricades on public roads hindering the passage of tankers and insult public officials. (SPS)

Delegation of Colombian Senate visits Saharawi refugee camps

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), June 19, 2014 (SPS) - A delegation from the Colombian Senate will begin as from Friday a three-day working visit in the Saharawi refugee camps , in order to assess the situation of Saharawi refugees.


The delegation composed of Juan Manuel Galán, Juan Mario La Serna, Jorge Enrique and Guillermo García.


During their stay, the delegation will visit the Saharawi national institutions and meet with officials and cadres in the Saharawi state.

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), June 18, 2014 (SPS) - Forty-four years have passed since the outbreak of the historic Zemla Uprising on 17 June 1970, announced by the Avant-Garde Movement for the Liberation of the Sahara under the leadership of Mohamed Sid Brahim Basiri on 17 June 1970.


The event was a “turning point” in the history of the Saharawi national movement for independence, through which the Saharawi disappeared Basiri played a pivotal role in the face of Spanish occupation authorities.

Boukhari Ahmed denounces Morocco’s obstruction to self-determination referendum

Washington, June 17, 2014 (SPS) - Polisario Front Representative to the UN Mr. Boukhari Ahmed has denounced in New York Morocco’s obstruction to the organization of a self-determination referendum in the occupied Western Sahara, calling on the UN Security Council to assume its full responsibility to settle the Saharawi issue.


Boukhari Ahmed spoke Monday at the meeting of the UN Special Committee on Decolonization (the Committee of 24), which was devoted to the issue of Western Sahara.
