Polisario Front voices concern about Moroccan army alert in Saharawi occupied territories

Birlehlou (Occupied Territories), August 22, 2014 (SPS) – President of Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz, expressed “deep” concern regarding the alert of the Moroccan army in the Saharawi occupied territories, in a letter Thursday to the UN Secretary General, Mr. Ban Ki-moon.

 

 

The President of the Republic warned against “blatant and dangerous aggression not only on the Sahrawi people but on the United Nations and the entire international community as well”.

Morocco "exercises pressure" on Ross, attempts to influence him (Ibrahim Ghali)

Algiers, August 21, 2014 (SPS) - The Saharawi Ambassador in Algiers, Mr. Ibrahim Ghali, affirmed Wednesday that Morocco "exercises pressure" and attempts in various ways to influence the UN envoy to Western Sahara, Mr. Christopher Ross, who will visit the occupied territories of Western Sahara in October.

 

In a statement to Algerian newspaper Al Bilad , the Sahrawi diplomat highlighted that the Moroccan regime is trying to "involveAlgeria" in its conflict with the Polisario Front, through its repeated attempts to influence the expected visit of the UN.

No state recognizes Morocco’s sovereignty on Western Sahara, says Sahrawi official

Algiers, Wednesday, 20 August 2014 (SPS) - Morocco’s sovereignty in Western Sahara is recognized by no state, said Tuesday in Algiers the Secretary General of the Union of Saharawi Workers Mohamed Cheikh Lahbib.

 

“Morocco’s sovereignty on Western Sahara is recognized by no state. Morocco seeks to get a foothold in the Sahel and borders in the region,” the Sahrawi official said at El-Moudjahid forum, underlining Morocco’s “expansionist” policy.

 

UESARIO confirms Arab and African participation in upcoming Congress

Shaheed Hafed, August 20, 2014 (SPS) - The Secretary General of the Union of Students of Saguia El Hamra and Rio de Oro, Ahmed Abdi Lehbib, confirmed Tuesday the participation of Arab and African countries delegations in the II Congress, held August 23-25, in the wilaya of Awserd under the theme: " the Saharawi Student Movement is in the service of the National goals".

 

Speaking to SPS, Lehbib Ahmed indicated the congress will feature prominent participation of students from Algeria, Mauritania, Palestine and Jordan, as well as African countries.

New York (United Nations), August 17, 2014 (SPS) - UN's main mission of the MINURSO (United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara) was the holding of a referendum on Saharawi people's self-determination, Polisario Front's representative at the UN, Ahmed Boukhari, reiterated in New York.

 

The Saharawi diplomat made the comment in reply to "strange statements" by Morocco’s Permanent Representative to the UN, in which he requested the UN Secretary-General not to alter the MINURSO’s mission.

 

National Council President participates in Presidents of African parliaments VI Congress

Midrand (South Africa), August 16, 2014 (SPS) - President of the National Council Jatri Aduh arrived Tuesday in South Africa to participate in the VI Congress of Presidents of African Parliaments, held Tuesday and Wednesday in Midrand.

London, August 15, 2014 (SPS) - Adala UK, Justice & Human Rights for Western Sahara, has demanded “urgent action on the issue of freedom of press and denounced the Moroccan government for only allowing journalists in favour of the regime’s official line to freely practice their profession whilst independent or foreign journalists are often denied access to the Occupied Territories and Saharawi journalists are subject to threats and arbitrary arrests.”

Sahrawi human rights delegation begins visit in Saharawi refugee camps

Shaheed Hafed, August 13, 2014 (SPS) - A delegation of Sahrawi human rights from the occupied territories of Western Sahara started Tuesday a visit in the Sahrawi refugee camps for a week. 
 
The delegation that took part in the Polisario and SADR officials Summer School, in Boumerdes (Algeria), was greeted Tuesday by the authorities of the Wilaya of Boujdour, Sahrawi refugee camps.

International community called to exert pressure on Moroccan occupier

Morocco's expansionist policy, drugs, main threats to peace, stability in Maghreb

Boumerdes (Algeria), August 13, 2014 (SPS) - Morocco's expansionist policy and drug exportation are the main threats to peace and stability in the Maghreb, said the secretary of state for Documentation and Security Brahim Mohamed Mahmoud.

 

"Morocco's expansionism to the detriment of the neighbouring countries had, in the past, largely contributed to encouraging foreign occupation of Maghreb countries," and has now "paved the way to foreign interference in the internal affairs of some countries," the Saharawi minister said in a conference.
