Polisario Front takes part in Africa's Day III in Ljubljana

Ljubljana (Slovenia), May 21, 2014 (SPS)- Polisario Front Representative in the Balkan countries Malainin Bagada participated in Africa's Day III in Ljubljana on May 19 and 20,  with the aim of exchanging points of views on possible opportunities for cooperation between Slovenia and African countries, under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr. Borut Pahor, said the Saharawi Representation Balkan countries in a statement.  

 

Wilaya of Awserd hosts official celebration of 41th anniversary of armed struggle outbreak

Wilaya of Awserd (Refugee Camps), 20 May 2014 (SPS) – The Wilaya of Awserd, refugee camps, hosted Tuesday  the official celebrations commemorating the 41 th anniversary of the launch of the armed struggle, in the presence of Prime Minister Abdelkader Taleb Omar and members of the National Secretariat, the government and the National Council. 
 
 The celebrations were marked by folkloric displays and the opening of traditional congregation reflecting the customs and traditions of the Saharawi people.

Berlin, May 19, 2014 (SPS) A delegation led by the SADR Secretary General of  Saharawi workers union (UGTSARIO), Mohamed Cheikh Mohamed Lahbib, accompanied by the Polisario Front Representative in Germany, Mamoun Mohamed, took part in the 3rd Congress of the International Trade Union Confederation (CIS), which is taking place from May 18 to 23 in Berlin, under the theme: "Strengthening the role of workers."

 

Saharawi NGO calls for saving life of Saharawi political prisoner Yahya Mohamed Hafed Iaazza

El Aaiun (Occupied Territories), May 19, 2014 (SPS) - The Collective of Sahrawi Human Rights Defenders (CODESA) launched an urgent appeal to human rights organizations around the world to intervene to save the life of the Saharawi political prisoner, Yahya Mohamed El Hafedh Iazza, on unlimited hunger strike for more than four weeks in Ait Melloul prison.

 

CODESA also called to exert more pressure on the Moroccan government to save the life of the Saharawi political prisoner and preserve his right to life, physical integrity and personal safety.

Polisario Front attends annual congress of Danish - Red Green Alliance Party

Copenhagen (Denmark), May 18, 2014 (SPS)  – The Representative of the Polisario Front to Denmark, Mr. Abba Malainin, attended the annual congress of the Danish Red-Green Alliance Party (RGA) held on May16 to 18 in Copenhagen, at an official invitation by the Party, according to a statement of the Polisario Front Representation in Denmark.

 

The Danish Red-Green Alliance Party (RGA) has a constant and firm stance with regard to the decolonization of Western Sahara, the last colony in Africa.

The Congress which is attended by 300 professors representing more than  60 Nigerian Universities, is held every two years to assess the situation of the Nigerian universities and elect the leadership of the organization between two congresses.

Algiers, May 17, 2014 (SPS) - Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika has reiterated Algeria’s keenness to continue to support the Saharawi people to realize their right to self-determination and independence.

 

It came in a letter to President of the Republic Secretary-General of the Polisario Front Mohamed Abdelaziz in a response to the letter which he had sent to him on the occasion of his re-election as the President of the Republic of Algeria. (SPS)

Moroccan security forces ‘violently’ disperse peaceful demonstration in occupied El Aaiun

El Aaiun (Occupied Territories), May 16,2014 (SPS) -  Moroccan security forces intervened ‘violently’ to disperse a peaceful demonstration organized Thursday in the occupied city of El Aaiun using batons and stones leaving many casualties among the demonstrators.
 
 According to statement of the Ministry of the occupied Territories and Community Abroad, the demonstration comes in the framework of of the expansion of the mandate of the MINURSO to include human rights monitoring an release of Sahrawi political prisoners in the Moroccan prisons.

AI asks Morocco to end impunity for torture in Western Sahara

London, May 14, 2014 (SPS) - Amnesty International (AI) has called on Morocco to “end the climate of impunity” in Western Sahara by prosecuting all those perpetrators of torture, urging it to end secret detentions and to ensure that detainees have access to a lawyer, notably during interrogation.


In a report issued on the occasion of the launch of Stop Torture Worldwide Campaign, the London-based human rights group called on Morocco to “end the climate of impunity” by prosecuting all those against whom their is sufficient evidence.

Icelandic Parliament approves resolution supporting Saharawi people’s self-determination

Reykjavík, May 14, 2014 (SPS) - The Parliament of Iceland approved Monday an important resolution on Western Sahara, in which it expressed support to the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination, calling on the Icelandic Foreign Ministry to work actively in international forums for Saharawis’ self-determination to be respected.

Algeria calls on EU to support UN efforts in Western Sahara

Addis Ababa, May 14, 2014 (SPS) - Saharawi Republic (SADR) has participated to the 1st session of the Government Legal Experts of Specialized Technical Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs, which took place in Addis Ababa on May 6-14, 2014.


SADR was represented at this meeting by Mr. Abba Al-Heisan, members of the Constitutional Council and Secretary General of Saharawi Jurists Union, along with Mr. Mohamed Al-Mahjub Abdallahi.

“A Flower Instead of Every Mine,” campaign on mine dangers in Western Sahara

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), May 14, 2014 (SPS) - Artists and activists of many countries in America, Europe and even Morocco have joined an awareness campaign about dangers of mines and against the separation military wall set up by the Moroccan occupation forces in Western Sahara.


The coordinator of the artistic project “A Flower Instead of Every Mine,” Moulud Yeslam, underlined that the idea consists of collecting millions of flowers instead of every mines.
