Algeria calls on EU to support UN efforts in Western Sahara

Brussels, May 14, 2014 (SPS) - Algeria called Tuesday in Brussels on the European Union (EU) and its Member States to “use their influence to support the efforts undertaken by the United Nations to reach a fair and definitive solution” for Western Sahara’s conflict, based on Saharawi people’s right to self-determination.


In a statement during the 8th session of Algeria-European Union Association Council, Algeria reiterated “its support for the mission of the Special envoy of the Secretary General of the United Nations for Western Sahara, Christopher Ross, so as to boost peace negotiations between Morocco and the Polisario Front in order to reach a fair and definitive solution, consistent with law international legality.” (SPS)
