ACHPR adopts resolution calling for respect of human rights in occupied territories (full text)

Luanda (Angola),May 25, 2014 (SPS) - The African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR) has adopted a resolution on the situation in the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, calling for the respect of human rights of the the Sahrawi people in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, at its 55th Ordinary Session held from 28 April 2014 in Luanda, Angola.

Luanda (Angola),May 25, 2014 (SPS) - The African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR) has adopted a resolution on the situation in the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, condemning  the widespread human rights abuses perpetrated by Morocco against the Sahrawi people in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.

Addis Ababa, May 24, 2014 (SPS) - A delegation composed of poets, a singer, a researcher in culture and a representative of the Saharawi Ministry of Culture, participated these past days to the events of the ARCH, organized by the AU as part of the commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Pan African Organisation.

 

The event, entitled “Africa Re-imagination Creative Hub (ARCH)” is organized from the 21st of May and will be closed this 25th in the AU Conference Centre in Addis Ababa.

UN Decolonization Committee discusses Sahrawi issue

Nadi (Fiji) 22 May 2014 (SPS) – The United Nations Decolonization Committee will discuss the issue of Western Sahara during the conference which is held in Nadi, Fiji, from Wednesday to Friday.

 

The Conference will discuss the Sahrawi issue among the 17 Non-self governing territories on the United Nations list, with the aim of speeding up the implementation of the Third International Decade for the Eradication of Colonialism (2011/2020).

 Madrid, 22/05/2014 (SPS) -  Minister of the Occupied Territories and Community Abroad Mohamed wali Akeik participated Wednesday in the Congress on Universal Justice in Madrid organized by the international foundation that bears the name of former Spanish judge Baltasar Garzón.

 

 Discussions focused mainly on the situation of human rights in Western Sahara, Argentina and Chile.

Occupied city of Dakhla under "severe" siege

Dakhla (Occupie Territories), May 20, 2014 (SPS) - The occupied city of Dakhla is experiencing since the beginning of May a severe siege in all Sahrawi neighborhoods, accompanied by interrogations of some young Sahrawis because of their participation in the recent peaceful protests in the city, according to the Ministry of Occupied Territories and Community Abroad. 
 
The siege included th neighborhoods of Omtunsi, Axekisat, El Amal and the 64 House complex.
