Christopher Ross arrives in Saharawi refugee camps

Shaheed Al Hafed (refugee camps), March 25, 2013 (SPS) - UN Secretary General’s Personal Envoy Mr. Christopher Ross arrived Monday evening in the Saharawi refugee camps, third consultative leg after Morocco and occupied Western Sahara, in the aim to achieve “a mutually acceptable political solution, which will provide for the self-determination of the people of Western Sahara.”


Ross was received on the floor of the airport by Mr. Mhamed Khaddad, chair of Saharawi National Committee for the Referendum, and Mr. Ahmed Salek Gaed Saleh, Director of National Protocol.


The UN envoy expected to hold talks this evening with Mr. Mhamed Khaddad and Mr. Khatri Addouh, President of Saharawi National Council.


He will also meet tomorrow, Tuesday, the Prime Minister Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar, in addition to the ministers of Interior, Reconstruction of Liberated Territories and Defense, as well as the Responsible of POLISARIO Secretariat of Political Branches Mr. Khalil Sid Mhamed.


He, therefore, will meet with the President of Saharawi Jurists Union and some Saharawi chieftains.


At the end of his two-day visit, he will hold talks with the President of the Republic and Secretary General of the Frente POLISARIO Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz.


The new tour is the second after the one he paid last October.


At the end of the visit, Ross will prepare a report to be submitted to the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. (SPS)
