Stockholm, Aug 25, 2013 (SPS) - The National Federation of Social Democratic Women in Sweden (Swedish acronym; S-kvinnor) reiterated Saturday its “unconditional support” to the struggle of Saharawi women for liberty and independence, during the opening ceremony of its congress which attended by a Saharawi delegation.
During the opening plenary session held at the Swedish Parliament in Stockholm, the President of the National Federation of Social Democratic Women in Sweden Ms. Lena Sommestad warmly welcomed the Saharawi delegation for accepting the invitation to attend the congress.
S-kvinnor expressed its commitment to defend the Saharawi cause and to continue supporting the Saharawi women, through the contribution of Olof Palme Centre and other initiatives in the future.
This congress focuses on the areas of support and programmes for women in different counties in the country, as well as the projects implemented with friendly associations of women, including projects of training of Saharawi women.
The Saharawi delegation comprised of Ms. Khira Bullahi, Minister of Professional Training, Public Function and Employees, Ms. Fatma El-Mahdi, Secretary General of Saharawi Women Union (Spanish acronym; UNMS) and Mr. Aliyen Habib Kentawi, POLISARIO Representative in Sweden.
The National Federation of Social Democratic Women in Sweden, known as S-kvinnor or S-women, is the women's wing of the Swedish Social Democratic Party. It was established in 1920. (SPS)
