President of National Council highlights need for pressure on Morocco to stop blocking international efforts to end Western Sahara conflict

Johannesburg (South Africa), 9 July 2015 (SPS) – Member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, President of the National Council, Mr. Khatri said Aduh, affirmed that the international efforts to find a solution to the Western Sahara dispute have not reached desired results due to the lack of pressure from the international community on Morocco.

Boumerdes (Algeria), August 8, 2015 (SPS) – The 6th Edition of the Summer University of the executives of the Sahrawi Republic (SADR) and Polisario Front concluded Saturday in Boumerdes, Algeria.

 

The conclusion ceremony was attended by members of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, the SADR government and the National Council, Algerian prominent personalities and parliamentarians, and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Algeria.

 

Italian Parliamentary Group for Western Sahara reaffirms attachment to Saharawi cause

Rome, August 7, 2015 (SPS) - The Italian Parliamentary Group for Western Sahara reaffirmed Friday its attachment to continue defending the rights of the Saharawi people to freedom and independence.


In a letter to Polisario Front’s Representative in Italy Mr. Amih Omar, the Group said that all kinds of injustice and repression experienced by the Saharawi people “will only make us, both within parliament and the senate, more determined to defend the legitimate rights of the Saharawi people.”

MEP Jordi Sebastià starts hunger strike in solidarity with Takbar Hadi

Madrid, August 7, 2015 (SPS) - MEP Jordi Sebastià, from Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance, began Friday a 24-hour hunger strike in solidarity with the Saharawi citizen Takbar Hadi, on hunger strike outside the Moroccan consulate in Las Palmas de Gran Canarias, Spain, since a month and six days to protest the killing of her son Mohamed Lamine Haidala by Moroccan settlers.

Saharawi political prisoner transferred to hospital in critical condition

Sale (Morocco), August 5, 2015 (SPS) - The Saharawi political prisoner, Dafi Deich, suffered Tuesday from a severe fainting resulted from a high blood sugar, said a source from the Ministry of Occupied Territories and Communities Abroad.


For the source, the prisoner lost consciousness after he got angry at Sale Prison’s medical staff being late in bringing medicaments.


He was transferred to the hospital after two hours, the time Moroccan police came to take him from the prison.

Situation of Saharawi pupils in occupied territory “disastrous” (minister)

Algiers, August 5, 2015 (SPS) - The Minister of Education Ms. Mariam Salek Hmada on Tuesday described as “disastrous” the situation experienced by Saharawi pupils in the occupied territory of Western Sahara, due to Morocco’s practices against them.


In a meeting with her Algerian counterpart Ms. Nouria Benghebrit, the minister indicated that Moroccan occupying authorities use all kinds of restrictions and pressures on Saharawi pupils, by militarizing primary and intermediate schools.

Algerian Education Ministry renews readiness to cooperate with Saharawi counterpart

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), August 4, 2015 (SPS) - Saharawi Students Union (UESARIO) will celebrate the 40th anniversary of its creation tomorrow, August 5th, by organizing a variety of festivities commemorating the event.


Established on 5 August 1975, the Union is grass-root organization of a political nature that brings together Saharawi students in the refugee camps, occupied territories and Diaspora.


It organizes the Saharawi students on leagues, branches and bureau for each university.
