MEP Jordi Sebastià starts hunger strike in solidarity with Takbar Hadi

Submitted on

Madrid, August 7, 2015 (SPS) - MEP Jordi Sebastià, from Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance, began Friday a 24-hour hunger strike in solidarity with the Saharawi citizen Takbar Hadi, on hunger strike outside the Moroccan consulate in Las Palmas de Gran Canarias, Spain, since a month and six days to protest the killing of her son Mohamed Lamine Haidala by Moroccan settlers.

The move by MEP Sebastià comes after the appeal made by the Spanish movement of solidarity with the Saharawi people to politicians and trade unionists to enter into a 24-hour hunger strike in solidarity with the Saharawi mother.

The initiative aims to mount pressure on the Moroccan authorities to provide clarifications regarding the assassination of the young Saharawi man, Mohamed Lamine Haidala. (SPS)
