AU calls to boycott Crans Montana Forum in the occupied city of Dakhla

ADDIS ABABA, Jan. 31, 2015 (SPS) - The African Union launched Saturday in Addis Ababa, a call to member countries and to all organizations not to participate in the Crans Montana Forum, scheduled in the occupied city of Dakhla (Western Sahara) next March and considers it a violation of international law.

Prime Minister appreciates principled African support to Saharawi cause

Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) January 31, 2015 (SPS) - Prime Minister Abdelkader Taleb Omar expressed appreciation to the principled position of the African countries in support of the decolonization of Western Sahara.

 

 This came during a speech in front of the African leaders on the second day of the twenty-fourth Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, where he is representing the President of the Republic.

 

Namibian President confirms that occupation of Western Sahara renders total liberation of Africa incomplete

Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) January 31, 2015 (SPS) - Namibian President Hifikepunye Pohamba, confirmed on Friday morning, that Moroccan continued occupation to parts of Western Sahara’s territories "renders the total liberation of Africa incomplete," on the occasion of the twenty-fourth Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union.

AU Executive Council reiterates “grave” concern on continuous illegal occupation of Western Sahara

Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), January 31, 2015 (SPS) - The Executive Council of the African Union (Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs) has adopted a text reiterating its grave concern in the face of the continuous illegal occupation of the territories of Western Sahara which have not yet been visited by the ACHPR in pursuance of the decision of the Executive Council on the issue.

 

New attack on Saharawi journalists by Moroccan authorities

Aaiún (Occupied Territories), January 31, 2015 (SPS) - A group of Sahrawi journalists were attacked, Wednesday in the occupied city of Aaiún, by the Moroccan authority while they were recording a programme on the peaceful Intifada, according to Sahrawi media sources on the scene.  

 

Algeria proposes boycott of Crans-Montana Forum in occupied Dakhla

Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), January 30, 2015 (SPS) - Algeria’s proposition to adopt a declaration condemning the holding of the Crans Montana forum in the occupied city of Dakhla (Western Sahara) was supported by several countries at the African Union Executive Council (AUEC), the AU body said Thursday in Addis Ababa.

 

African Union Summit starts with participation of SADR

 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) January 30, 2015 (SPS) – The works of the 24th session of the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union started Friday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with participation of the Sahrawi Republic (SADR).

 

Prime Minister Abdelkader Taleb Omar is representing the President of the Republic, alongside 40 African heads of state and government, as well as many international figures, including the King of Spain as a guest of honor.

  

Humanitarian aid to Saharawi refugees handled with "rigour," "openness"

Algiers, January 30, 2015 (SPS) - The shipping of the humanitarian aid meant to Saharawi refugees is carried out with "openness" and "rigor" and in the respect of follow-up and control mechanisms, the representatives of the European Union humanitarian aid office (ECHO) and the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in Algeria told APS on Friday.

 

President of Republic congratulates Greek Prime Minister on victory

Birlehlu, January 30, 2015 (SPS) – President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz, has congratulated Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and his coalition on their victory, in a letter received Friday by SPS.

 

“I write to offer you my warmest salutations, and my heartfelt congratulations on your and your coalition’s momentous victory,” said the President of the Republic in his letter.

 

EU considers Western Sahara as non-self-governing territory

Brussels, Jan 29, 2015 (SPS) - The European Union, through its High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, considers Western Sahara as a non-self-governing territory and the Kingdom of Morocco as the de facto administering power.

PM arrives in Addis Ababa to represent President Mohamed Abdelaziz at AU Summit

Addis Ababa, Jan 29, 2015 (SPS) - Prime Minister, Mr. Abdelkader taleb Omar, arrived Thursday morning in Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia, to represent the President of the Republic and Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, at the 24th ordinary session of Heads of State and Government of the African Union, to be held on 30- 31 January 2015.


Prime Minister was received at Addis Ababa International Airport by the Ethiopian Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Tefera Deribew.

Spanish activists expelled from occupied El Aaiun

Madrid, Jan 29, 2015 (SPS) - Three female Spanish activists on Tuesday expelled by Moroccan authorities from the occupied city of El Aaiun, capital of Western Sahara, said the Spanish Coordination of Association in Solidarity with the Saharawi People (CEAS-Sáhara).


The three women are members of the Spanish movement of solidarity with the Saharawi people.

AU Executive Council adopts ACHPR’s report on Western Sahara

Addis Ababa, Jan 29, 2015 (SPS) - The Executive Council of the African Union on Wednesday adopted, at the end of its 26th ordinary session, the report of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR), about the of human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.


In its report, the ACHPR voiced “grave concern” over the continuous illegal occupation of the territories of Western Sahara, which the Commission could not visit.

New communal graves discovered in Western Sahara

Landmine blast in Mijek leaves 1 dead and 3 injured

Mijek (liberated zones), Jan 28, 2015 (SPS) - One person was killed and 3 other people injured last Saturday in landmine explosion occurred in an area called Al-Nas Valley in the Saharawi occupied city of Smara, 83 Km from the liberated zone of Mijek, said Saharawi Mine Action Coordination Office.


For the source, the blast took place in the 3-km buffer zone from the Moroccan Shame Wall that divides Western Sahara.

Algeria, Nigerreaffirm support to UN efforts for self-determination of Saharawi people

Danish Red-Green Alliance “firmly” supports Saharawi people’s right to self-determination and independence

Copenhagen, Jan 28, 2015 (SPS) - The Danish Red-Green Alliance Party has expressed “firm support” to the right of the Saharawi people to Self-determination and independence, said Tuesday MP Christian Juhl in a meeting with Mr. Abba Malainin, POLISARIO Representative to Denmark.


The Danish official voiced his party’s support to the “strict respect” of human rights in Western Sahara, calling for the need to mandate the MINURSO with human rights monitoring in occupied Western Sahara.
