Submitted on

ADDIS ABABA, Jan. 31, 2015 (SPS) - The African Union launched Saturday in Addis Ababa, a call to member countries and to all organizations not to participate in the Crans Montana Forum, scheduled in the occupied city of Dakhla (Western Sahara) next March and considers it a violation of international law.

"We, the Heads of State and Government of the African Union appeal  the member states of the African Union, civil society and all organizations to boycott this Forum scheduled from 12 to March 14, 2015 in the occupied city of Dakhla (Western Sahara) ".

The AU also asked the International Organization Crans Montana and all other organizations to cancel the meeting scheduled in the occupied city of Dakhla (Western Sahara), which constitutes a serious violation of international law.

In this sense, the AU believes "that organizing any international conference under the current circumstances in Western Sahara is in contradiction with the efforts of the international community to resolve the conflict in Western Sahara and can engender a climate of confrontation in the territory. "

Furthermore, the AU mentioned all the decisions and the resolutions adopted by the OAU / AU and the UN on the Situation in Western Sahara, praising the cooperation efforts with the UN to reach a just and lasting solution to the question of Western Sahara in accordance with the UN Charter and Resolution 1514 adopted in 1960 on decolonization.
