Mexican delegation starts 4-day visit to Saharawi refugee camps

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Jan 14, 2014 (SPS) - A Mexican delegation expected to start today, Tuesday, a four-day working visit to the Saharawi refugee camps, informed a media source.


The delegation composed of three members of the Mexican parliament, in addition to a writer, poet and journalist from the Dominican Republic.

Sahrawi political prisoners suspend hunger strike

Tiznit (Morocco) January 13, 2014 (SPS) - Sahrawi political prisoners (group of national flag) jailed in Tiznit, Morocco, has suspended the hunger strike which they had commenced January 2, according to the Ministry of Occupied Territories and Community Abroad.

 

The suspension of hunger strike comes  after the prison administration pledged to respond to the demands of the hunger strikers including medication, balanced nutrition, sleeping beds, open visits.

 

President of Republic renews call to protect defenseless Saharawi citizens in occupied territories

Bir Lahlou (Liberated Territories) January 12, 2014 (SPS) - Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, President of the Republic, Secretary-General of Frente POLISARIO, renewed call for the United Nations for the  protection of the defenseless Sahrawi citizens in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, in a letter Saturday to the UN Secretary-General, Mr. Ban Ki-moon.

 

Call on UN to end Sahrawi natural wealth plunder

Bir Lehlou (liberated territories), January 12, 2014 (SPS)  – Sahrawi President Mohamed Abdelaziz called on the UN to assume its responsibilities in taking necessary measures to stop Western Sahara’s natural resources “plunder.” 

 

President Abdelaziz wrote in a message to the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, that "the member countries of the UN have to honor their commitments under Chapter 11 of the UN Charter, and thus to take the necessary measures to stop the looting of natural resources which are the property of the Saharawi people."

In a speech during a luncheon in their honor, the President of the Republic congratulated the  new elected UJTSARIO Secretary General and Executive Office and praised the role of the Union towards Sahrawi youth and to raise awareness about the Sahrawi issue at the level of world youth unions.

Tiznit (Morocco) January 10, 2014 (SPS) - Sahrawi political prisoners Hassan Mohamed Lehssan, engaged in the first week of hunger strike in the local prison in Tiznit, Moroccan, suffers deteriorating health conditions, according to the Ministry of the Occupied Territories and Community Abroad.

 

Hassan Mohamed Lehssan suffers of dyspnea, severe Stomach ache, knee pain which had necessitated aquiring medical tests that required tranforming him to Marrakech.

Algiers, Jan 9, 2014 (SPS) - Speaker of the Saharawi National Council (Parliament) and Head of the Saharawi delegation to the negotiations with Morocco, Mr. Khatri Addouh, has expressed hope that “Ross’s tour in the region will enable the intensification of efforts in order to increase awareness of the UN Security Council and the international community regarding the Saharawi issue so as to end the suffering and ordeals of the Sahrawi people due the Moroccan occupation.”

POLISARIO Front denies meeting with Morocco in European country

Shaheed El Hafed, January 4, 2014 (SPS) - Mr. Mhammed Khadad, member of the National Secretariat , Coordinator with MINURSO , has denied the holding of a meeting between POLISARIO Front and Morocco in an European country.

 

Mr. Mhammed Khadad affirmed Saturday evening, in an interview with Sahara Press Service (SPS), "Polisario Front denies categorically what has been circulated by some newspapers and media affiliated to Morocco of the holding of a meeting between Polisario Front and Morocco in an European country,"

 

Sahrawi political prisoners go on hunger strike

Tiznit (Morocco) January 4, 2014 (SPS) - Sahrawi political prisoners, known as group of Sahrawi national flag, went on indefinite hunger strike on Thursday in the local prison of Tiznit, Morocco, in protest of the “squalid” conditions in the prison, according to the Ministry of Occupied Territories and Community Abroad.

 

 

The political prisoners demand medication, open visits, balanced nutrition, sleeping beds, Pursuing study, access to newspapers and exchange of letters abroad, according the same source.
