ALGIERS, January 4, 2014 (SPS) - Algeria supports the efforts of UN Secretary General Personal Envoy for Western Sahara, Christopher Ross, and calls for increased efforts in the region to organize a self-determination referendum, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ramtane Lamamra said Wednesday in Algiers.

"We support Christopher Ross who needs imagination and creativity in how to conduct these efforts. The most important is that his efforts and those of the UN Secretary General go tenser and the file of Western Sahara must not be a seasonal activity," Lamamra told Canal Algerie.

In response to a question about the upcoming indirect talks between Morocco and the Polisario Front, which according to media, would be expected in Sweden in camera without the participation of Algeria and Mauritania, as observers, Lamamra, said that "if Ross believes that the two countries should not be present in a particular phase of negotiations, we have absolutely no problem with it so."
