UESARIO urges IUSY to complete its exploratory visit to Western Sahara

SADR takes part at meeting of South African states’ regional parliament

Mozambique, Sept 22, 2013 (SPS) - Saharawi Republic (SADR) has taken part at a meeting of the regional parliament of South African states on the promotion, adoption and adjustment of African Union legislations, held in Maputo on September 17-20.


Saharawi Republic was represented at this meeting by Ms. Sueilma Beiruk, Vice-President of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP).

IUSY delegation begins visit to Saharawi refugee camps

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Sept 21, 2013 (SPS) - A delegation of the International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY) will begin Saturday night a three-day visit to the Saharawi refugee camps and liberated territories of the Saharawi Republic (SADR), according to agenda of the visit.


The delegation has concluded a similar visit to Morocco and the occupied territories of Western Sahara, which lasted for three days.

Western Sahara International Film Festival to be celebrated next October 8-13

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Sept 21, 2013 (SPS) - The tenth edition of the International Film Festival in Western Sahara, known as FiSahara, will be celebrated in the Wilaya of Dahkla, Saharawi refugee camps, in the period from 8 to 13 October 2013.


FiSahara is an annual film festival that uses film to entertain and empower Saharawi refugees and to raise international awareness about the plight of the people of Western Sahara, occupied by Morocco since 1975.

SADR present at Independence Day Celebrations in Belize

Saharawi Ambassador held bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belize H.E. Mr. Wilfred Elrington.

Algerian, Saharawi cultural institutions plan twinning

Algiers, Sept 21, 2013 (SPS) - Algerian and Saharawi cultural institutions have agreed to carry out twinning projects, the Saharawi Minister of Culture Ms. Khadija Hamdi said Thursday in Algiers, quoted Friday by Algerian Press Service (APS).


Speaking following a meeting with Ms. Khalida Toumi, Algerian Minister of Culture, Ms. Khadija Hamdi said the twinning concerns Saharawi and Algerian fine arts, cinema and music schools.

Moroccan Appeal Court in Agadir postpones verdict against six Saharawi prisoners

Agadir, Sept 20, 2013 (SPS) - The Moroccan Court of Appeal in the city of Agadir postponed Thursday to September 26th the ruling against six Saharawi activists, arrested following Gleimim events, said a source of the Saharawi Ministry of Occupied Territories and Diaspora.


The trial attended by families of the detainees and a number of Saharawi activists of human rights.

South Africa renews support to Saharawi people’s self-determination and independence

Algiers, Sept 20, 2013 (SPS) - Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa in Algeria Mr. Joseph Kotane has reiterated his country’s support to the right of Saharawi people to self-determination and independence, in a meeting with Saharawi Ambassador Mr. Brahim Ghali, held Thursday at SADR embassy in Algiers.


The South African diplomat expressed his country’s desire to develop the mutual cooperation relations already exist between the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) and South Africa in various fields.

IUSY delegation visits Western Sahara

El Aaiun (occupied territories), Sept 20, 2013 (SPS) - A delegation representing the International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY) arrived Wednesday in the occupied city of El Aaiun, capital of Western Sahara, in an exploratory visit to the occupied and liberated territories of Western Sahara, as well as the Saharawi refugee camps.


IUSY delegation, which includes members of the Saharawi Youth Union (UESARIO), is headed by Mr. Mousa Selma, Secretary General of UESARIO.

2013-2014 school year officially kicks off in Saharawi refugee camps

National conferences, which brought together the local authorities of the wilayas and national directorates of the Ministry of Education, were held prior to the official launch of this new school year (2013-2014).

SADR embassy attends Nicaragua’s Independence Day celebration

Managua, Sept 15, 2013 (SPS) - Ambassador of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) Mr. Suleiman Tieb Henàn took part Saturday in the ceremonies marking the 192nd anniversary of the independence of the Central-American country of Nicaragua, observed annually on September 15th, at the invitation of the Nicaraguan government, according to a press release issued by Saharawi embassy in Managua.


Saharawi ambassador conveyed to the sisterly government of Nicaragua the felicitations of the Saharawi Government and its President Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz.

Western Sahara mass grave: Basque forensic and research team releases its findings

Mass grave in Western Sahara: perpetrators should be brought to account, says AI

RFK Center reports ongoing human rights violations in Western Sahara

Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights (RFK Center) has released a report, in which it expressed dissatisfaction at the relentless human rights violations against the Sahrawi people in Western Sahara, indicating that the international community “has the responsibility to protect the Sahrawis from these systematic violations.”
