Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Sept 21, 2013 (SPS) - The tenth edition of the International Film Festival in Western Sahara, known as FiSahara, will be celebrated in the Wilaya of Dahkla, Saharawi refugee camps, in the period from 8 to 13 October 2013.

FiSahara is an annual film festival that uses film to entertain and empower Saharawi refugees and to raise international awareness about the plight of the people of Western Sahara, occupied by Morocco since 1975.

It annually brings together film artists, actors, journalists and sympathizers with the struggle of the Saharawi people from various countries of the world.

The festival provides workshops, roundtables, cultural activities, spectacular camel races, movies screening and concerts for foreign participants and Saharawi refugees.

This year, the festival initiates a special human rights section to pay tribute to the struggle for human rights, freedom and equality in the Middle East and North Africa.

FiSahara 2013 will feature a special section of films about the Western Sahara, including the Runner, La Badil, Separated, and a series of short films made by the Saharawi Film School Abidin Kaid Saleh.

It will be marked by the screening of other films with international themes like Girls Rising, Sigo Siendo, Lo Imposible (the Impossible), La Vida del Pi and the Suffering Grasses. (SPS)
