Saharawi Ministry of Culture issues new publications

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Sept 16, 2013 (SPS) - The Saharawi Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with some associations and institutions supporting the Saharawi people, has recently published several poetry collections and books, said the director of the documentation of history and preservation of oral memory Mr. Mohamed Ali Laman.


Mr. Mohamed Ali Laman told SPS that the Saharawi ministry of culture has issued a number of books for Saharawi poets and writers, so to encourage the process of documentation and writing, highlighting that the work will continue in the coming months with new publications.


He invited all the Saharawi poets and writers to work in order to contribute to the enrichment and preservation of Saharawi memory.


The Saharawi official revealed that the work on the 3rd part of the cultural project “tell me my dad” is underway.


This project focuses on the documentation of Saharawi culture, by making interviews with elderly people.


The Saharawi Ministry of Culture has for years issued a set of books in collaboration with the Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Autonomous University of Madrid.


These new publications include “eye on Tires” for the poet Bounana Abdelhay, “a country and memory” for Sidi Brahim Jdoud, “from the fountains of culture” for Zaim Allal, “a poet of life and cause” for Hamdi Allal, “commandments of a poet” for Allal Daf, “the sermon” for Badi Mohamed Salem, “the experience of folk medicine” for the writer Mohamed Ali Laman, and “history and meanings from Hassania poetry’s conformists” for Bachir Ould Ali.
