Algeria, September 27, 2023 (SPS) - The Algerian Minister for Relations with Parliament, Ms. Besma Azouar, renewed on Tuesday, at the headquarters of her ministerial department, during receiving a delegation from the Sahrawi National Council, Algeria’s position in support of the Sahrawi issue and the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination in accordance with Security Council resolutions.

Namibia reaffirms its principled support for the legitimate struggle of the Sahrawi people

New York (United States), September 26, 2023 (SPS) – Ms. Nandi-Ndaitwah Netumbo ; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, reaffirmed her country’s principled support for the legitimate struggle of the Sahrawi people, stressing that Namibian people have also suffered from deprivation of their right to freedom, and therefore its position in support of the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and freedom is firm and enjoys the consensus of all political forces in the country.

Algiers, 24 September 2023 (SPS) - Several heads of State and Government reiterated, during the works of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, in New York, the right of the Sahrawi and Palestinian peoples to self-determination and independence. 

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune reaffirmed Algeria’s unchanging position in favor of just causes and in support of the oppressed peoples who are fighting for freedom, notably the Palestinian and Sahrawi causes.

CONASADH condemns brutal attack on Sahrawi activist by Moroccan occupying forces

Use of arbitrary detention by Morocco has raised new concerns

Geneva, 23 September 2023 (SPS) - The French Movement against Racism and for Friendship between Peoples (MRAP) has expressed its concern over the excessive use of arbitrary detention by Morocco against Sahrawi political prisoners, calling on the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention to visit these detainees.

In an oral presentation to the 54th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland, on Friday, the organization expressed its concern about the increasing cases of arbitrary detention that Morocco is using in an excessive manner.

De Mistura commits to continuing efforts to further peace process

New York (United Nations), 15 September 2023 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front,  Brahim Ghali, held a meeting with the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General for Western Sahara Staffan de Mistura who committed to continuing his efforts to further the peace process as part of the implementation of the UN resolutions, in order to enable the Sahrawi people to exercise their right to self-determination.

Dakhla (Occupied Territories), 9 September 2023 (SPS) - The United Nations Secretary-General's Personal Envoy for Western Sahara, Staffan de Mistura, met with representatives of human rights associations on Thursday, who provided him with an assessment of the increasing Moroccan repression against Sahrawi civilians in the occupied cities. They affirmed the need to uphold international legality and allow the Sahrawi people to exercise their right to self-determination, freedom, and independence.

US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State on a visit to the Sahrawi party

Shahid al-Hafed, September 1, 2023 (SPS) - A delegation from the United States of America led by Mr. Joshua Harris, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in charge of the Department of State's Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, will embark on a visit to the Sahrawi party as part of the efforts made to re-launch the peace process sponsored by the United Nations in Western Sahara.

The visit program includes holding political talks with the Sahrawi leadership and holding meetings with groups of women and youth, in addition to visiting some Sahrawi facilities.
