New York (United Nations), 29 March 2023 (SPS) - The Spokesperson for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Stéphane Dujarric, said yesterday that the Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General for Western Sahara, Mr. Staffan de Mistura, will hold informal bilateral consultations with representatives of the two sides of the conflict in New York, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Saguia El Hamra and Rio de Oro, Morocco, and the two neighboring countries, Algeria and Mauritania.

Occupied El-Aaiun, 26 March 2023 (SPS) - Moroccan occupation forces have targeted Sahrawi blogger and journalist Al-Salha Muhammad Al-Bashir, and violently beat her, causing her arm, leg and back injuries of varying severity.
Al-Salha Muhammad Al-Bashir, a correspondent of the Sahrawi National Television, said in a statement posted on social network that she was attacked by military officers and civilian members of Morocco's intelligence services while leaving her home in occupied El-Aaiun, as herself and her home were placed under surveillance.

SADR-Venezuela: 11 cooperation agreements signed in different sectors

Caracas, 22 March 2023 (SPS) - The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) and Venezuela signed eleven (11) cooperation agreements in different sectors, sanctioning the talks of Sahrawi President, Brahim Ghali and Venezuelan President, Nicolas Maduro in Caracas.
During his state visit to Venezuela, President Ghali held Tuesday one-on-one talks with his Venezuelan counterpart, Nicolas Maduro, subsequently extended to delegations from both countries.

Caracas, 22 March 2023 (SPS) - The President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, reaffirmed Tuesday the commitment of his country to defend the Sahrawi cause and all the causes of liberation, until the completion of decolonization.
The Venezuelan president made this statement while welcoming his Sahrawi counterpart, Brahim Ghali, at the presidential palace in Caracas.

President of Republic begins state visit to Venezuela

Caracas (Venezuela), 19 March 2023 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, began today, Sunday, a state visit to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, at the invitation of its President, Mr. Nicolás Maduro. 
The President of the Republic and his accompanying delegation were received at Simon Bolivar International Airport in Caracas, by the Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yvan Gil and Deputy Minister for Africa of at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Yuri Pimentel Moura.

Major General of Bangladesh appointed MINURSO Force Commander

New York (United Nations), 18 March 2023 (SPS) - UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres announced Thursday the appointment of Major General Fakhrul Ahsan of Bangladesh as Force Commander of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO), the UN said in a statement.
Major General Ahsan succeeds Major General Zia Ur Rehman of Pakistan who completed his assignment at the end of March 2022, according to the statement published on the UN website.

Algiers, 12 March 2023 (SPS) - A full convergence of views on Western Sahara issue emerged from the discussions between President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune and his Ugandan counterpart, Yoweri Museveni, who is on a State visit to Algeria at the invitation of President Tebboune, reported Algerian Press Service (APS).
This particular convergence of views between the two countries, mainly on African issues, shows the importance of solidarity and mutual assistance among African countries.
