Maseru (Kngdom of Lesotho) 03 June 2020 (SPS)- The Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho reiterated in an official statement by its Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Relations, the Hon 'Matšepo Ramakoae, “principled position on Western Sahara”, denying previous unilateral misrepresentations of that position last year.

Algiers, 1 June 2020 (SPS) - Algerian Foreign Minister, Mr. Sabri Boukadoum, has reiterated Algeria's support for the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination and independence.
Speaking on Monday to Algerian media ahead of the opening of his first hearing before the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Algerian National People's Assembly, Mr. Sabri Boukadum, reaffirmed that Algeria supports the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and calls for the appointment of a new UN envoy for Western Sahara.

CONASADH calls on ICRC to intervene for release of Saharawi political prisoners in Morocco

Bir Lehlou (Saharawi Republic) 31 May 2020 (SPS)– The Saharawi National Commission for Human Rights (CONASADH), called on the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), to urgently intervene for the release of Saharawi political prisoners in Morocco, to protect them from possible Covid-19 infection.
In a letter sent to the President of the ICRC, Mr. Peter Maurer, CONASADH, expressed deep concern about the situation of the Saharawi prisoners under the bad conditions of Moroccan jails and the spread of Covid-19 in many Moroccan prisoners.

Algiers (Algeria) 27 May 2020 (SPS)- The Algerian Foreign Minister, Sabri Boukadoum, confirmed on Tuesday that all manoeuvres against the international efforts for peace in Western Sahara "will fail in the face of the justice of the Sahrawi people’s cause."
Mr. Boukadoum said that his country regrets "the failure to achieve the desired dynamic in the issue of Western Sahara, which has not yet reached settlement."

Thirty Nine political prisoners, amongst them Mahafouda El Fakir (who was released on the 15 May 2020) have found themselves as victims of gross human rights violations by the Moroccan regime.
Their only crime was and remains a demand for the freedom and independence of their homeland, Western Sahara, from Moroccan tyranny.

On this day, 20 May 1973, the Frente POLISRIO  announced the outbreak of armed struggle against the Spanish occupation, only 10 days after its creation on 10 May of the same year.
