Decolonization in Western Sahara: Polisario can no longer accept current stalemate

Boujdour (Refugee Camps),  20 June 2020 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, said the Polisario Front can no longer accept the current stalemate of the decolonization process in Western Sahara, condemning Morocco's obstacles.
"Concerning the decolonization process in Western Sahara, the Frente Polisario Front cannot accept the current stalemate," said a statement released at the end of a meeting of the Front's Permanent Office, chaired by President Brahim Ghali.

Brussels, 20 June 2020 (SPS) - Deputies of the European Parliament called Wednesday the Spanish Government, in a letter sent to the Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, to speed up the decolonization process in Western Sahara and assume its historical and legal responsibilities towards the Sahrawi people.

Illegal exploitation of Sahrawi phosphate: Polisario Front launches court battle against two New Zealand firms

Wellington, 20 June 2020 (SPS) - The Polisario Front is determined to launch a “court battle” against two New Zealand firms which continue to invest illegally in the Sahrawi territories and to import phosphate ore of Western Sahara occupied by Morocco since 1975.
The Polisario Front lodged last March a formal complaint at the Supreme Court of New Zealand to prevent the pension fund of New Zealand from investing illegally in the occupied Sahrawi territories.

Covid19: No cases reported in refugee camps, liberated territories thanks to prevention measures

Algiers, 15 June 2020 (SPS) - President of the Saharawi Red Crescent (CRS), Yahia Bouhabini said Monday that the prevention measures taken by the Saharawi authorities against the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic "have yielded positive results without recording any cases of contamination in the Saharawi refugee camps and liberated territories," welcoming the contribution of the Algerian Red Crescent (CRA), having allowed the delivery of international humanitarian aid to the Saharawi in this exceptional situation.

New Zealand government urged to stop illegal Sahrawi phosphate shipments

Wellington, 13 June 2020 (SPS)-  The organization specializing in the protection of Saharawi natural resources, "Western Sahara Campaign-NZ," demanded from New Zealand government to stop its illegal import of phosphate extracted from occupied Western Sahara.
In a statement made public Saturday by the local press, the organization regretted that "once again, New Zealand fertilizer companies Ravensdown and Ballance Agri-Nutrients continue to participate in the plunder of Western Sahara natural resources."

The Uali was born in 1948. He was a young man ahead of his time and had a vision of the future, he was a man who was convinced.

PCE dubs Spanish Supreme Court decision as a grievance to Saharawi people

Madrid, June 8, 2020 (SPS) - The Communist Party of Spain has rejected the decision of the Spanish Supreme Court "because it means a further degree in the escalation of the issue of decolonization of the Territory of Western Sahara and represents a grievance to the Saharawi people and a disgrace to all of us."

Covid-19: No case reported in Sahrawi refugee camps, liberated territories

Shaheed Al-Hafed, 8 May 2020 (SPS) -The Sahrawi National Committee for the prevention and monitoring of the novel coronavirus pandemic said Saturday that “no confirmed case” has been reported in the Sahrawi refugee camps or in the liberated territories.  
In a communiqué issued by the Ministry of Public Health, the Committee called on citizens to respect the measures already taken to prevent the spread of the epidemic in the Saharawi refugee camps.

Body of late M’hamed Kheddad buried in Smara’s cemetery

Smara (Refugee Camps) - Late leader and diplomat M'hamed Kheddad, who passed away in early April, was buried in a cemetery in the wilaya of Smara, refugee camps.
The funeral ceremony took place in the presence of President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, members of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, the Government, the Sahrawi National Council, Advisory Council, as well as members of friendly foreign delegations and a large crowd.

EU remains committed to supporting Saharawi refugees

Brussels, 6 May 2020 (SPS) - European Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarcic, has reiterated the commitment of the European Union (EU) to support the Saharawi refugees, particularly in these exceptional circumstances related to Covid-19.
The EU's commitment was reaffirmed in a written response to a letter sent by the President of the European Free Alliance (EFA), Ms Lorena Lopez, on "the EU's efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic in the Sahrawi refugee camps".
