UN will continue to defend the right of Ross to visit Western Sahara (UN Deputy Spokesman)

Washington, December 08, 2015 (SPS) -  The Organization of the United Nations will continue to defend the right of his Personal Envoy, Christopher Ross, to visit Western Sahara in accordance with the mandate that was given to him by the Security Council, said Monday Farhan Haq, deputy spokesman of Ban Ki-moon in New York.
 

Morocco endangers peace process in Western Sahara

Washington(U.S.A) December 08 2015 (SPS) - Morocco has, once again, endangered the peace process, by refusing to enter into direct negotiations with the Polisario Front, the party’s representative under the United Nations, Ahmed Bujari told APS, on Monday.

 

“The Polisario Front was officially informed that Morocco refused to enter into direct negotiations,” announced in early November by the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, said Bujari.

 

Occupation authorities violently disperse Saharawi unemployed demonstration

El Aaiun(occupied territories), December 08,2015 (SPS) - The Moroccan occupation authorities have violently dispersed a peaceful demonstration organized last Thursday by unemployed gradual Saharawi regional coordination in the city of Laayoune (in the occupied territories of Western Sahara), leaving several serious injuries, according to sources from the Ministry of the Occupied Territories and Community Abroad.

 

Cuba reiterates support to Sahrawi people’s struggle for their right to self-determination, independence

Havana, December 7, 2015 (SPS) - The Cuban Communist Party reiterated Cuba’s support to the struggle of the Sahrawi people, led by the Polisario Front, for their right to self-determination and independence.

 

In a meeting with a Sahrawi delegation, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and head of its international relations department José Ramon Balaguer reaffirmed Havana’s support to the struggle of the Sahrawi people for their independence.

 

Saharawi political prisoner Hamza Gamihi sentenced to two years in prison

 El Aaiun (occupied territories), December 7, 2015 (SPS) -The Moroccan Criminal Division of the Court of Appeals in the occupied city of El Aaiun on Wednesday sentenced Saharawi political prisoner Hamza Gamihi to two years in prison, who was on conditional release since October 30, 2013.

 

Young Hamza Gamihi was arrested on June 04, 2013, in the city of Smara (occupied Western Sahara zones) following his participation in a peaceful demonstration demanding the right of the people of Western Sahara to self-determination.  

 

Cuba reiterates support for Saharawi people struggle for freedom and independence

Doctoral thesis on history of National Radio

 Bilbao (Basque Country) Dec 5, 2015 (SPS) - Saharawi researcher Malainin Slama earned Thursday a doctorate in Social Sciences and Communication at the University of the Basque Country (UPV / EHU) with his PhD thesis under the theme "Saharawi National Radio, 40 years of airwaves, the voice of a people."

 

 With the outstanding distinction "Cum Laude", Doctor Malainin Slama has dedicated his thesis to "all those who have died and those who live so that the Sahrawi people's voice can be heard".

Copenhagen, (Denmark) December 4th, 2015 – The Representative of POLISARIO Front to Denmark, Mr. Abba Malainin, was received Friday by Mr. Rasmus Nordqvist, member of the Danish Parliament and the Spokesman on Foreign Affairs of the Alternative Party in the Parliament. Mr. Rasmus is also a member of the Danish Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

 

UNICEF "has difficulties" meeting needs of stricken families in Sahrawi refugee camps

ALGIERS, December 03, 2015 (SPS) - Representative of the UN Funds for Child (UNICEF) Thomas Dava said that the UNICEF "has difficulties" to meeting the needs of the Sahrawi refugees hit by the floods last October

Their needs are notably made of medicines and education.

Speaking during a news conference he held with two Good Will ambassadors football star Madjid Bouguerra and former world judo champion Salima Souakri, Dava evoked the sufferings of the Sahrawi refugees, notably in the Dakhla camps, the most affected by the floods.

Women's International Democratic Federation support Saharawi people struggle

Saharawi Popular Army participates in meetings of the NARC

Addis-Ababa(Ethiopie), December 01, 2015 (SPS)- Representatives of the Saharawi Popular Army participated in meeting of Experts of the North African Regional Capacity (NARC), in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

 

The meeting was attended by representatives of the four member States of the NARC, Algeria, Egypt, Libya and the Saharawi Republic, in addition to representatives of Mauritania and Tunis, the two remaining North African countries not yet members in this regional capacity.

 

UNICEF Goodwill delegation visits Sahrawi refugee camps

Chahid El Hafed (refugee Camps), December 01,2015 (SPS) - goodwill delegation of the Organization of UNICEF on Sunday started  a working visit to the Sahrawi refugee camps in order to view the situation of educational institutions and the damage caused recently by the flood.

 

The delegation led by former Algerian Player Madjid Bougherra and Salima Souakri  as Goodwill Ambassadors for UNICEF organization in Algeria. (SPS)
