British court hears complaint lodged by WSCUK on products originating in Western Sahara

London, April 27, 2015 (SPS) - The British court heard Tuesday a complaint lodged by the Western Sahara Campaign in the United Kingdom (WSCUK) demanding a Judicial Review of Her Majesty’s Revenue and Custom's treatment of products originating in Western Sahara being imported into the United Kingdom as Moroccan for the purposes of the EU – Morocco Association Agreement.

 

President of Republic receives Gernika Award for Peace and Reconciliation

 Gernika (Basque Region), April 26, 2015 (SPS) - The Gernika Award for Peace and Reconciliation for 2015 was presented on Sunday to the President of Parliament, Khatri Addouh, on behalf of the President of the Republic, Mohamed Abdelaziz, after a ceremony commemorating the 78th anniversary of the bombing of the city of Gernika.

 

 Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Addouh said "this award shows that we are not alone in our struggle and reiterates the commitment of the Basque people to support the Saharawi people in the difficult moments of their struggle."

Africa insists on SADR participation at UN conference on NWFZ

New York, April 27, 2015 (SPS) - African countries posed the participation of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) as a prerequisite for the holding of the United Nations Conference on Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone (NWFZ) last Friday, Saharawi's Foreign Affairs ministry said Saturday in a statement.

 

Minister of Culture presents 12th edition of FISAHARA

African countries demand SADR participation at Conference of Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zones

New York, April 26, 2015 (SPS) - The African countries have demanded the participation of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) at the United Nations Conference of Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zones.

 

According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the conference due to be held Friday at the United Nations headquarters in New York, was suspended as result to opposition from African countries to attempt by Morocco to disrupt the work of the conference intended to prevent the participation of the SADR.

 

SADR Permanent Representative to AU leads humanitarian assessment mission to Republic of South Sudan

Juba (South Sudan), 25 April, 2015 (SPS) - H.E. Mr Lamine BAALI, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) to the African Union and Ethiopia has led the African Union humanitarian assessment mission delegation to the Republic of South Sudan.

 

The mission took place from 19h to 25th April 2015 and has the opportunity to assess the situation of Internally Displaced Persons living in different camps in Juba, as well as, in refugee camps.

Universities of Tifariti and Mayor de Santiago sign bilateral cooperation protocol

Santiago (Chile), April 25, 2015 (SPS) The dean of the University of Tifariti, Khatari Hmoudi, has met with the presidents of universities in Chile in the framework of his working visit to Latin American universities.

 

The meetings focused on ways to deepen cooperation and exchanges in the fields of training, and programs between these universities in addition to other issues.

Minister of Health received by his Cuban counterpart

Havana, April 25, 2015 (SPS) -The Saharawi Minister of Health, Mohamed Lamin Daddi was received Thursday by his Cuban counterpart Roberto Morales Ojeda, on the occasion of the participation in the 2nd International Convention of Health in Cuba 2015, held in Havana from April 20 to 24.

 

During the meeting, the two ministers discussed various issues of common interest, especially cooperation agreements signed between the Saharawi Republic and Cuba in the field of health.

Algeria, Mexico for self-determination of Sahrawi people

Algiers, April 24, 2015 (SPS) -Algeria and Mexico reaffirmed their support for a "just" and "lasting" solution to the Sahrawi issue which will provide for the self-determination of the Saharawi people, said a joint statement released Wednesday after Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations José Antonio Meade Kuribreña's working visit to Algeria.
