Moroccan minister's insulting remarks against Algeria, an "abuse"

Algiers, July 13, 2014 (SPS) - The "offensive" remarks made by a member of Moroccan government against Algeria constitute an "abuse" and denote a "nervousness that ill befits the relations between the two brother and neighbouring countries," the spokesman of the ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdelaziz Benali Cherif,said Saturday.

MFA refutes "allegations and lies" of Rabat foreign minister

  Birlehlu July 12, 2014 (SPS) - Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould salek refuted the Moroccan Foreign Minister’s allegations that the task of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara is to maintain the cease-fire during his recent speech before the foreign committee in the Moroccan parliament , in a statement Friday.

 

Speaker of Parliament holds talks with President of Canary Regional Government

Las Palmas (Canary Islands, Spain), July 10, 2014 (SPS) - Speaker of the Saharawi National Council (Parliament) Mr. Khatri Addouh met yesterday, Wednesday, with the President of the Regional Government of the Canary Islands, Mr. Paulino Rivero.


During the meeting, Mr. Addouh, also head of the Polisario Front’s delegation to the negotiations with Morocco, conveyed Saharawi President’s sincere greetings to Mr. Rivero.

CPJ urges Moroccan authorities to annul charges against Mahmud El-Haissan

New York, July 9, 2014 (SPS) - The Committee to Protect Journalists has called on the Moroccan authorities to drop the charges against the Saharawi journalist and blogger Mahmud El-Haissan.


“Journalists should never be subject to retaliation for coverage of sensitive topics,” said Sherif Mansour, CPJ’s Middle East and North Africa program coordinator, in a statement issued Tuesday, calling on the Moroccan authorities to “immediately” release the Saharawi journalist Mahmud El-Haissan.

Danish MP worried for tens of Saharawi journalists having detained by Moroccan authorities

Action to boycott Azura brand tomatoes launched at Auchan stores in Bagnolet

Shaheed Hafed, July 7, 2014 (SPS) -  As a sign of French solidarity with the Saharawi people, an  action to boycott Azura brand tomatoes originated from Western Sahara and not from Morocco as indicated on the label, was launched at Auchan stores in Bagnolet to alert the French public about the seriousness of plundering of the natural resources of Western Sahara by Morocco.

 

Sahrawi journalist Mahmoud Al Haissane arrested by Moroccan authorities

El Aaiun (Occupied Trritories) , July 7, 2014 (SPS) - Moroccan authorities arrested Sahrawi journalist Mahmoud Al Haissane and put him on remand in the Lakhal prison, pending his trial on 21 July 2014, qccording to a source from the Ministry of Occupied Territories and Community.

 

“The Sahrawi journalist was arrested last Friday for having revealed Morocco’s human rights violations and the plundering of Western Sahara’s natural resources,” added the same source.

 

UPES condemns arrest of TVRASD correspondent in occupied El Aaiun

Shaheed Hafed, July 6, 2014 (SPS) - The union of Saharawi Journalists and Writers (UPES in Spanish) condemned "forcefully" the arrest on Friday of Saharawi journalist and TVRASD correspondent Mahmoud Lhaisan by the Moroccan police in the occupied city of El Aaiun, in a statement.

 

It described the arrest as "unfair and unacceptable" and held the Moroccan authorities responsible for the consequences that may result.

 

Adala UK calls for action against arbitrary detention following large peaceful demonstration in occupied El Aiun

London, July 6, 2014 (SPS) -  Adala UK, Justice & Human Rights for Western Sahara, has called for an action against arbitrary detention following a large peaceful demonstration in the occupied city of El Aiun, Western Sahara, in a statement on its website.

 

Adala UK  confirmed that dozens of activists, demonstrators and journalists have been detained without arrest warrants following peaceful demonstrations on 30th June 2014 in El Aiun. Many more are at risk of arbitrary detention.

 

Mexican Institutional Revolutionary Party reiterates support to Sahrawi cause

Mexico, July 5, 2014 (SPS) - The Mexican Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) reiterated its support to the Sahrawi people and their just cause.

 

Under-Secretary of PRI’s international issues, Elsa Espinosa who received a Sahrawi delegation made up , among others, of the General Secretary of Sahrawi Women Union Fatma El-Mehdi and Charge d’Affaires at the Sahrawi embassy in Mexico Ahmed Moulay, reiterated her party’s support to “the Sahrawi people’s struggle for freedom and independence.”

 

NUSW Secretary General received at Foreign Affairs Ministry in Mexico

Mexico, July 5,  2014 (SPS) - General Secretary of the National Union of Saharawi Women (NUSW), member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, Ms. Fatma Mehdi, received on Wednesday along with   SADR Ambassador in Mexico Moulay Ahmed, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico.

 

The Saharawi delegation was received by the Director General for Africa and the Middle East at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, María Carmen Oñate Muñoz, counselor and coordinator of policy analysis, Amparo Angujano, and other MFA staff and officials.
