Action to boycott Azura brand tomatoes launched at Auchan stores in Bagnolet

Shaheed Hafed, July 7, 2014 (SPS) -  As a sign of French solidarity with the Saharawi people, an  action to boycott Azura brand tomatoes originated from Western Sahara and not from Morocco as indicated on the label, was launched at Auchan stores in Bagnolet to alert the French public about the seriousness of plundering of the natural resources of Western Sahara by Morocco.

The organizers of this initiative called the French merchants and consumers to boycott vegetables and imports from Western Sahara, saying that "this is a direct involvement in plundering the wealth of the Saharawi people and encouragement of Morocco in its illegal occupation of Western Sahara. "

This action launched last week aims primarily at tomatoes from the occupied city of Dakhla sold and distributed by the royal family in Morocco in the European markets, in violation of international law.

These tomatoes are grown in the town of Dakhla in Western Sahara under Moroccan occupation. The label says they are tomatoes from Morocco, "which is a fraud on the origin of the product," said the organizers. (SPS)
