UPES deplores Rabat’s harassment against Peruvian journalist Ricardo Sanchez

SADR embassy in Zimbabwe launches official website

Harare, March 14, 2014 (SPS) - Embassy of the Saharawi Republic (SADR) in Zimbabwe has launched an official website, as a new contribution to raise awareness about the plight of the Sahrawi people.


The Saharawi Ambassador in Harare Mr. Deich Mohamed Saleh hoped that this new website would be a very important contribution to the efforts being made to aware about the Saharawi cause.


This website has been created to give internet surfers wide and comprehensive information about the conflict of Western Sahara.

Angola supports just cause of Saharawi people

Luanda, March 13, 2014 (SPS) - The Vice-president of the Republic of Angola, Mr. Manuel Domingos Vicente, voiced his country´s firm support to the just cause of the Saharawi people, in a meeting held Monday with the Saharawi Ambassador Mr. Malainin Sadig.


Mr.Vicente hailed the very excellent friendship relations already exist between the Saharawi Republic (SADR) and Angola.

European Parliament to dispatch fact-finding mission to occupied Western Sahara

Strasburg, March 13, 2014 (SPS) - The European Parliament decided Tuesday to send a fact-finding mission to the occupied territories of Western Sahara next April to assess at first hand the reality of human rights and Saharawis’ benefit from their country’s natural resources, revealed Mr. Mohamed Ali Zerouali, Polisario Front’s Representative to Brussels.


This mission will be composed of 7 members of the European Parliament representing different political spectrums.

Ten-year-old Saharawi boy, new victim of landmine blast

Mheiriz (liberated territories), March 13, 2014 (SPS) - Morocco’s shame wall in the Western Sahara has caused a new casualty, this time a 10-year-old Saharawi in an antipersonnel landmine blast which occurred Tuesday in the Saharawi liberated territory of Mheiriz, reported the Saharawi Association of Landmine Victims (ASAVIM).


According to the source, the ten-year boy lost one hand and fingers of the other, before being rescued by a team of Action on Armed Violence and evacuated by a helicopter.

Polisario Front welcomes resumption of Confidence Building Measures

Visit flights between separated Saharawi families resume next April, says UNHCR

Geneva, March 12, 2014 (SPS) - The UN refugee agency announced Thursday that the visit flights programme of Saharawi families living in refugee camps and their relatives in the occupied Western Sahara under the Confidence Building Measures programme will be resumed next April 17th.


In a press release today, the UN agency said that the first series of flights scheduled for 17 April includes four flights suspended in August 2013.

Moroccan army fired live bullets on herds of Saharawi camels

Chahid El Hafed (refugee camps), March 12, 2014 (SPS) - Moroccan army forces has fired lived bullets on herds of Saharawi camels, as a blatant breach to the ceasefire agreed upon by the Polisario Front and Morocco in 1991, said AFAPREDESA.


According to the Association of Families of Saharawi Prisoners and Disappeared (AFAPREDESA), this is part of a giant sweep campaign aimed at eliminating Saharawi livestock.

President Mohamed Abdelaziz hails Algeria’s continuous support to Saharawi cause

"Algeria has always supported the Sahrawi cause since the invasion of Western Sahara by Morocco in 1975," Abdelaziz said after a meeting with Algerian parliamentarian delegation which paid a solidarity visit to the Sahrawi refugee camps.

Polisario Front urges UN to pressurize Morocco to comply with international legitimacy

President of Republic receives Algerian parliamentary delegation

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), March 11, 2014 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz held today, Tuesday, a luncheon in honour of the Algerian women parliamentary delegation, at the end of a 3-day visit to the Saharawi refugee camps and liberated territories in solidarity with Saharawi women.


The luncheon was attended by members of the Polisario Front’s National Secretariat and Saharawi government, in addition to members of the Saharawi National Council (parliament).

Saharawi parliament receives government programme on Saturday

June 9th School (refugee camps), March 11, 2014 (SPS) - The Saharawi National Council (parliament) will receive next Saturday the government programme for the year 2014, said a Saharawi official source.


The government programme will be presented by the Prime Minister Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar, before being discussed and approved by members of the Council in the period between March 15th to April 1st.


This is the first session the Saharawi Parliament holds since its election last February. (SPS)

Algiers, March 11, 2014 (SPS) - A Saharawi delegation representing Workers Union (UGTSARIO), led by General-Secretary Mr. Mohamed Cheichk Lehbib, takes part at the 37th session of the General Council of the Organization of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU), held in Algiers on March 9-12, 2014.


The opening of the session was attended by the Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal, along with ministers and senior officials in the Algerian state.
