Third Summer University of Saharawi Cadres opens Tomorrow in Boumerdès

Boumerdès (Algeria), July 1, 2012 (SPS) - The third edition of the Summer University of Saharawi Republic’s Cadres, which bears the name of late Algerian President Ahmed Ben Bella, expected to open its works tomorrow Monday in the Algerian City of Boumerdès, in the presence of the Prime Minster Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar as well as a large number of Saharawi and Algerian cadres.

Establishment of new municipalities in Saharawi liberated territories

Bir Lehlou (liberated territories), July 1, 2012 (SPS) - Minister of Construction and Urbanization of the Liberated Territories, Mr. Ballahi Siyad, announced the establishment of new municipalities in Mijek, Dougaj and Agwainit, Saharawi liberated territories, at the end of a seven-day visit led him along with ministerial delegation to Saharawi liberated territories.


The delegations inspected schools, hospitals and farms in Mijek, Tifariti, Mheiriz, Bir Tigisit and Bir Lehlou.

President of Spanish Human Rights Association launches awareness campaign on historic responsibility of Spain in Western Sahara

Madrid, June 29, 2012 (SPS) - President of the Spanish Association of Human Rights, Mr. José Antonio Gimbernat, has launched along with organization, intellectuals and university professors a campaign to aware about the historic responsibility of Spain in Western Sahara.


Mr. Gimbernat made contacts on Wednesday and Thursday with all Spanish political parties representing to the parliament. In addition, he sent a written letters to a number of Spanish figures, including the President of the Government Mr. Mariano Rajoy.

United Nations approves US$60.8 million budget to finance MINURSO

New York, June 29, 2012 (SPS) - The United Nations General Assembly has approved a budget of US$60.8 million to finance the UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara, known as MINURSO, for the period from 1 July 2012 to 30 June 2013.


The budget includes US$58.2 million for the maintenance of MINURSO and US$2.4 million for the support account for peacekeeping operations, and US$131,700 dollars for the United Nations Logistics Base at Brindisi, in Italy.

Occupation court postpones trail of Saharawi students imprisoned in Salé

Rabat, June 29, 2012 (SPS) - The court of Moroccan occupation delayed Thursday, for the third consecutive time, trail of the Saharawi students incarcerated in the Moroccan prison of Salé since 16 April 2011 to forthcoming July 12, informed Saharawi human rights sources.


The students are Brahim Shleih, Lehbib Mansour, Ahmed Ayoub, Mohamed Barak, Slima Masaa and Abeilil Said.


Headquarters of the court was surrounded by various security agencies and intelligence agents.

Seventh congress of UGTSARIO to be held next October 21-23

31 Saharawi NGOs call on EU to exclude Western Sahara from any trade agreement with Morocco

Shaheed El Hafed ( Refugee Camps), June 27, 2012 (SPS) - 31 Saharawi NGOs represent the civil society called on the EU to respect international law by excluding the occupied territories from any future trade agreement with Morocco.

 

“In all future trade deals between the EU and Morocco, we would urge that the territory of Western Sahara is clearly and explicitly excluded.”, wrote the 31 NGOs In their letter to European Commissioner for Trade,  Karel De Gucht dated 26 June 2012, the 31 NGOs

 

President of Republic concludes official visit to Tanzania

Dar es Salaam, June 26, 2012 (SPS) – the president of the Republic and Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz, Monday, concluded a two-day official visit to the United Republic of Tanzania at invitation of the President of Tanzania, Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete.

 The president was seen off At the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere International Airport, by his host, President Kikwete, Honourable Ministers and other senior Government officials of the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania.

SADR and Tanzania call upon AU, UN and the international community to take their responsibilities to find a peaceful resolution to conflict of Western Sahara sooner and not later.

Secretary General of Saharawi Women Union asks Socialist International to dispatch fact-finding mission to Western Sahara
