The Sahrawi Republic participates in the 26th International Book Fair of Algiers (SILA)

Algeria, October 26, 2023 (SPS) - The Sahrawi Republic participates in the 26th edition of the Algiers International Book Fair (SILA), held at the Exhibition Palace in Algiers.

The opening of the Book Fair was supervised by the Algerian Prime Minister, Mr. Ayman Ben Abdel-Rahman, accompanied by members of the Algerian government, including the Minister of Culture and Arts, Mrs. Soraya Mouloudji, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Algeria.

Sahrawi Republic deposits the Instrument of Ratification of the Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

Addis Ababa (African Union), October 26, 2023 (SPS)- The Sahrawi Republic deposited on Wednesday its Instrument of Ratification of the Protocol annexed to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Africa, at the headquarters of the African Union in Addis Ababa.

The purpose of the African Disability Protocol is to promote, protect and ensure the full and equal enjoyment of all human and people’s rights by all persons with disabilities in Africa, as well as to ensure respect for their inherent dignity.

President of Republic chairs  expanded meeting in preparation for upcoming national events

El-Aaiun (Refugee Camps), 22 October  2023 (SPS) - President of the Republic and Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, chaired Sunday an expanded meeting in preparation for the upcoming national events.

The meeting reviewed the important upcoming national events that will take place on the national arena, such as the Cultural Forum, ARTIFARITI, and Interreligious Dialogue.

SPLA carries out new attacks against Moroccan occupation forces

Bir Lahlou (Liberated Territories), 22 October 2023 (SPS) - Units of the Sahrawi People's Liberation Army (SPLA) have targeted positions of the Moroccan occupying forces in the Mahbes sector, the Sahrawi Ministry of Defense indicated Sunday in its military communiqué 897.

"Advanced units of the SPLA have targeted the entrenchments of the Moroccan occupying forces in the regions of Chidhmia and Ros Essabti (Mahbes) through intensive bombardments," said the communiqué.

The meeting brought together various national institutions that will contribute to the success of the upcoming national events, each according to their specialization.

Moroccan occupation forces attacks Sahrawi human rights activist Ali Salem Tamek

Occupied El Aaiun, 22 October 2023 (SPS) - The Moroccan occupation forces attacked Saturday morning the Sahrawi activist and human rights defender Ali Salem Tamek at his home in the occupied city of El Aaiun, resulting in the injury of the activist Jamila Hussein Mujahid in her hand.

The occupation authorities employ a range of oppressive and intimidating methods against the Sahrawi people in the occupied cities, but this has not dampened the determination of the Sahrawi masses, who continue to demand the withdrawal of the Moroccan occupation.

Sahrawi political prisoner on hunger strike to denounce Moroccan occupier's abuses

Occupied El Aaiun, 21 October 2023 (SPS) - Sahrawi political prisoner of the Gdeim Izik group, Hassan Mohamed Radi Dah, who has been arbitrarily detained since 2010, has begun a hunger strike on Saturday to protest against the discriminatory and racist treatment inflicted by the Moroccan prison authorities.

"This protest action comes as a result of the Moroccan prison authorities' refusal to comply with the legitimate demands made by the Sahrawi human rights activist, who is serving an unjust 25-year prison sentence," said local Sahrawi human rights sources.
