Chahid El-Hafed (Sahrawi Republic), 23 September 2024 (SPS) – Following the heavy rainfall that struck the Wilaya of Dakhla in the Sahrawi refugee camps, the Ministry of Public Health swiftly mobilized and deployed its teams for relief and rescue operations, utilizing its logistical equipment to provide urgent assistance to those affected.

Today, an emergency field hospital was established, equipped with essential medicines and medical supplies, as well as an ambulance and other service vehicles.

Chahid El-Hafed (Sahrawi Republic), 23 September 2024 (SPS) – The Sahrawi Ministry of Interior clarified in a Public Statement Today that the heavy rainfall affecting the Wilaya of Dakhla on Sunday and Monday, which caused damage to homes and public buildings and displaced families to safer areas, has officially led to the declaration of Dakhla in the Sahrawi refugee camps as a disaster zone.

Chahid El-Hafed (Sahrawi Republic), 23 September 2024 (SPS) – Units of the Sahrawi People's Liberation Army (SPLA) intervened on Monday to provide aid to Sahrawi citizens affected by the torrential rainfall in the Wilaya of Dakhla in the Sahrawi refugee camps, mobilizing all necessary human and material resources.

The intervention of the units came in accordance with the instructions of the Emergency Committee and the Ministry of National Defense, and in response to a request from the local authorities of Dakhla.

Chahid El-Hafed (Sahrawi Republic) 23 September 2024 (SPS) – The civil and military authorities of the Algerian Province of Tindouf, led by its Governor, Mr. Dahou Mustafa, arrived in Dakhla refugee camps this Monday evening, accompanied by teams from the Algerian Civil Protection and Army to assist the refugees affected by the heavy rainfall. Their mission includes draining water from public spaces and homes and reopening roads.

The Sahrawi Red Crescent confirms significant damage to homes and public buildings in Dakhla camp due to rainfall

Shahid El-Hafed (Sahrawi Republic) 23 September 2024 (SPS) – The Sahrawi Red Crescent confirmed that significant damage has affected homes and public buildings in Dakhla camp as a result of the rainfall in the Sahrawi refugee camps on September 22 and 23.

In a statement of which SPS obtained a copy, the Red Crescent clarified that the heavy rains in Dakhal refugee camp led to damages to the homes of some families, educational institutions, and the regional hospital, displacing around 350 families.

Since late August, the Sahrawi refugee camps have been hit by unprecedented rainfall, leading to widespread material damage.

Shaheed El Hafid, September 21, 2024 (SPS) - The Permanent Bureau of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, meeting today, Saturday,  under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, decided to hold the 5th Ordinary Session of the National Secretariat on Thursday, September 26 current.

The meeting discussed the preparation for the 5th Ordinary Session of the National Secretariat, particularly through the preparation of the Permanent Bureau's report to be presented to the session.

This came during Friday's meeting of Mr. Nafei with the president of the Irish Teachers' Union, David Walters, accompanied by the union's secretary general, Michael Gillespie, at the union's headquarters in the capital Dublin.

Brasilia, 20 September 2024 (SPS) - The drama of the Sahrawi people is captured in a documentary titled "Sahara of the Sahara" (Deserto do Deserto in Portuguese), a feature film by Samir Abujamra and Tito González García, indicated a statement of the POLISARIO Front Representation in Brazil.  

The documentary, which was screened Thursday at the Brasilia cinema, brings to light one of the oldest and least-known conflicts in the world today.

The military communiqué issued by the Central Directorate of Political Commissariat of the Sahrawi People's Liberation Army stated that advanced units carried out concentrated shelling on Thursday morning, targeting the trenches of the Moroccan occupation army in the Guelta sector.

The reception, which took place at the headquarters of the General Union of Algerian Workers, is part of the preparations for the 50th anniversary of the General Union of Sahrawi Workers, which will be held in October, in the Sahrawi refugee camps.
