Dili (Timor-Leste),12 October 2022 (SPS) -The Ambassador and Permanent representative of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste to the UN, H.E. Mr. Karlito Nunes, affirmed in his Country's intervention yesterday before the 4th, Committee of the United Nations General Assembly on the Question of Decolonization in New –York that “Western Sahara is the last Africa’s colony that remains a Non-Self-Governing Territory under this Special Committee since it was first listed in 1963.

New York, October 11, 2022 (SPS)- Mr. Nkosi Zwelivelile Mandela, Member of the South African Parliament and grandson of the late South African leader and activist, Nelson Mandela, told the United Nations that "we cannot rest while Western Sahara is occupied", reiterating his country's solidarity with the liberation struggle of the Sahrawi people.

Berlin, October 11, 2022 (SPS) - The Supervising Committee of the European Conference on Solidarity and Support for the Sahrawi People (EUCOCO) has launched its website for registration to participate in the works of its 46th edition, to be held in the German capital, Berlin, on 2 and 3 December 2022.

Wilaya of Awsard (Refugee Camps), 10 October 2022 (SPS) - The Sahrawi people celebrate today, Monday, the National Day of the Sahrawi Khaima (tent), in commemoration of the 12th anniversary of the "Gdeim Izik" epic, whose first tent was erected on this day in 2010 east of the occupied city of El-Aaiun.
The anniversary of the National Day of the Sahrawi Khaima is of particular importance in emphasizing the "significance of the Khaima " in the identity, history and resistance of the Saharawi people throughout the ages.

New York (United Nations), 10 October 2022 (SPS) - Several speakers stressed, before the 4th Committee of the UN General Assembly, in New York, that Western Sahara was a case of decolonization and illegal occupation by the Kingdom of Morocco, in violation of international humanitarian law, accusing, among other things, the "occupying State" of refusing to organize a referendum on self-determination on the grounds that an autonomy plan would be more appropriate.

New York (United Nations), 10 October 2022 (SPS) - French human rights activist Claude Mangin-Asfari, from the Association of Friends of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (AARSD), called before the 4th Commission of the UN General Assembly, in New York, for extending the mandate of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) to include human rights monitoring for all Sahrawis living in the area occupied by Morocco.

Birlahlou, 9 October 2022 (SPS) - Units of the Sahrawi People's Liberation Army (SPLA) carried out new attacks against positions of the Moroccan occupation forces in the sectors of Mahbes and Haouza, indicated Sunday the Ministry of Defense in its military communiqué N 653.
According to the communiqué, advanced units of SPLA targeted the Moroccan occupation forces in the regions of Akouira Ould Ablal and Tnouched in the sector of Mahbes and Fedra El Ach in the sector of Haouza.

Accra (Ghana), 9 October 2022 (SPS) - The Sahrawi Republic, represented by Member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, Minister of Trade, Mr. Salek Baba Hasena, participated in the 10th meeting of the Council of Trade Ministers of the African Union, held in Accra, Ghana,  on 7, 8 October 2022, in preparation for the Extraordinary Session of the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union on the state of implementation of the agreement establishing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Brussels (Belgium), 9 October 2022 (SPS) - Member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front in charge of Europe and the European Union, Mr. Abbi Bushraya Bashir, commenting on the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs' abandonment of a map that annexed Western Sahara to Morocco, has affirmed that the Polisario Front took note of this change with regard to the issue of borders on the Foreign Ministry's website as well as Sanchez's address to the General Assembly, which remained a small and symbolic step but was in the right direction.

Moscow, 9 October 2022 (SPS) - Russia has stressed the importance of finding a "just" and "mutually acceptable" solution to the conflict in Western Sahara, during a meeting Friday in Moscow between its head of diplomacy Sergei Lavrov, and the personal envoy of the UN Secretary General for Western Sahara, Staffan de Mistura.
During the meeting, the two men discussed the situation in Western Sahara and the state and prospects of the settlement process of this conflict, the Russian Foreign Ministry indicated on Telegram.

Madrid, 8 October 2022 (SPS) - The 17th edition of the Film Festival "Fi-Sahara" was announced Friday in Madrid, Spain, from 11 to 16 October, under the slogan "Let's end colonialism in Western Sahara".
The official presentation ceremony of the Festival was attended by the Representative of the Polisario Front in Spain, Mr. Abdullah Arabi, and the Executive Director of the Festival, Ms. Maria Carrion, in addition to film actors Carlos Bardem and Pepe Viyuela.

New York (United Nations) 08 October 2022 (SPS)- More than 30 petitioner intervened last Thursday before the Special Political and Decolonization Committee (Fourth Committee) of the United Nations General Assembly, on Western Sahara, calling for its decolonization and for the respect of the Saharawi people’s rights.

Damascus, 8 October 2022 (SPS) - The Arab Committee for Solidarity with the Sahrawi People reaffirmed that "there is no alternative to enabling the Sahrawi people to exercise its right to self-determination and independence."
During a meeting held by its Executive Bureau via teleconference, chaired by its chairman, Mahmoud Saleh, the Committee reiterated that "there is no alternative to enabling the Sahrawi people to exercise its right to self-determination, independence and freedom," stressing "the need to respect this right."

Gaborone (Botswana), 8 October 2022 (SPS) - The Diplomatic Corps accredited to Botswana organized a luncheon on Friday to bid farewell to the Ambassador of the Sahrawi Republic to Botswana and its Permanent Representative to the Southern African Development Community (SADC), Mr. Malainin Lakhal, along with the ambassadors of Mozambique and Japan.

Moscow, October 07, 2022 (SPS) - The Russian Foreign Ministry revealed about a meeting, on Friday in Moscow, between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and the Personal Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Western Sahara Staffan de Mistura, to discuss developments in the Western Sahara issue.

New York (United Nations) 7 October 2022 (SPS)- Representative of Frente Polisario at the UN, Ambassador Sidi Mohamed Omar, indicated yesterday in his statement before the UN Committee on Decolonisation that the Saharawi people will never give up their right to self-determination and independence and will continue fighting for it.

London, October 05, 2022 (SPS) - The Western Sahara Campaign UK told the High Court in UK, on Wednesday that a post-Brexit UK-Morocco trade agreement was concluded without obtaining the consent of people from the disputed Western Sahara territory.
The Western Sahara Campaign UK (WSCUK), which supports self-determination for the Saharawi people of the north-west African territory, has brought legal action against the Department for International Trade and the Treasury over the UK-Morocco Association Agreement (UKMAA).

Zaragoza (Aragon), October 05, 2022 (SPS) - the representative of the Polisario Front in Spain, Mr. Abdullah Al-Arabi, was received, yesterday by the General Directorate of Cooperation in the Aragon government, as part of a working visit to the province, accompanied by the regional representative of the Polisario Front, Mr. Yahya Al-Dakhil.

Castilla y León (Spain), October 05, 2022 (SPS)- The political forces in the province of Castilla y León renewed their positions in support of the Sahrawi people's struggle for freedom and self-determination, during talks between the representative of the Polisario Front in Castilla y León Mr. Mohamed Labat and members of the Parliamentary blocs representing the Socialist Party, Por Ávila Party, Union of the People of León Party and Soria YA Party.
