Berlin, October 11, 2022 (SPS) - The Supervising Committee of the European Conference on Solidarity and Support for the Sahrawi People (EUCOCO) has launched its website for registration to participate in the works of its 46th edition, to be held in the German capital, Berlin, on 2 and 3 December 2022.
The website, launched yesterday, allows participating delegations the opportunity to register and choose one of the four workshops set by the committee, to shed light on the real situation of human rights in the occupied zones of Western Sahara, and the situation of Sahrawi political detainees in Moroccan occupation prisons, especially the Gdeim Izik group.
This important conference will also be an opportunity to mobilize international support and strengthen the efforts of the Solidarity movement to put an end to the illegal exploitation of Sahrawi natural resources, in accordance with the partnership agreements concluded between the European Union and Morocco, which are still under consideration by the European Court of Justice after the appeals submitted by the Polisario Front.
The conference will discuss topics of support for the national institutions of the Sahrawi Republic at various levels and fields, as well as ways to break the media blackout, provide information and national developments, and share them by all legitimate means with the whole world.
Regarding the 46th edition of EUCOCO, Mr. Oubbi Bushraya Al-Bashir, member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, in charge of Europe and the European Union, confirmed in a press statement that this solidarity event comes at a critical circumstance for the Sahrawi issue, marked by many diplomatic and legal victories for the Sahrawi people, and in light of a new situation marked by the resumption of the armed struggle and the dangerous bets of involving external forces to destabilize the security and stability of the region, which requires the mobilization of all the Sahrawi people and solidarity movements to win the current bets and accelerate the path of national independence.
He added, "The choice of Berlin comes from the great importance of Germany within the European and global context, and among the future challenges surrounding the Sahrawi issue at the level of the natural resources file, the upcoming European Court decision, and the role required of the European Union in pressing to accelerate a just settlement on the basis of international law and legitimacy."
The Sahrawi official concluded expressing his hope that the 46th edition of the International Conference of European Coordination in Support of the Sahrawi People will be a prominent solidarity event that will conclude to an effective solidarity roadmap of the year 2023, and meet the aspirations of the current stage from various aspects.
It is worth mentioning that the 46th edition of the European Conference on Solidarity and Support for the Saharawi People, known as (EUCOCO), is expected to receive an official delegation representing the Saharawi state, as well as significant international delegations and representatives of the solidarity movement from various countries.
