Gaborone (Botswana), 8 October 2022 (SPS) - The Diplomatic Corps accredited to Botswana organized a luncheon on Friday to bid farewell to the Ambassador of the Sahrawi Republic to Botswana and its Permanent Representative to the Southern African Development Community (SADC), Mr. Malainin Lakhal, along with the ambassadors of Mozambique and Japan.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of all countries accredited to Botswana, in addition to representatives of SADC, various United Nations agencies, the European Union, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Botswana.
The Sahrawi ambassador thanked the attendees for the farewell ceremony, noting the firm and honorable position that Botswana has always adopted on the Saharan issue, pointing to the great role played by the President of Botswana, Mr. Mokgweetsi Masisi, in particular in developing bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Sahrawi ambassador stressed the gravity of the international situation in recent years, pointing out the need for diplomacy to play a pivotal role in easing the atmosphere of disputes and international conflicts, and to build bridges of friendship and peace between peoples, stressing the need to build international relations on the basis of mutual respect, dialogue, and observing international law and human and peoples' rights.
Following the speeches of the three ambassadors, the dean of the diplomatic corps, Angolan Beatriz Morais, presented the three ambassadors with symbolic gifts.
