Damascus, 8 October 2022 (SPS) - The Arab Committee for Solidarity with the Sahrawi People reaffirmed that "there is no alternative to enabling the Sahrawi people to exercise its right to self-determination and independence."
During a meeting held by its Executive Bureau via teleconference, chaired by its chairman, Mahmoud Saleh, the Committee reiterated that "there is no alternative to enabling the Sahrawi people to exercise its right to self-determination, independence and freedom," stressing "the need to respect this right."
The meeting discussed the action plan of the Arab Committee for Solidarity with the Arab Sahrawi people by working to attract more Arab political and intellectual figures.
The head of the Executive Bureau stressed the importance of coordination of the legal team in the Arab Committee for Solidarity with the Sahrawi People with international organizations to hold meetings "to explain the right of the Sahrawi Arab people to self-determination and to get rid of the unjust Moroccan occupation that has plundered the wealth of this people for almost half a century."
Mr. Mahmoud Saleh also highlighted the importance of the Committee joining the international community "to achieve greater effectiveness in the process of accelerating the activation of the international resolution on the decolonization of Western Sahara", calling on the countries of the world in general and the Arab countries in particular to stand by the right of this people "and to issue a resolution to implement the right of the Sahrawi Arab people to self-determination and to get rid of the occupation, away from the interests of those countries with the Moroccan occupation".
The Executive Bureau of the Committee decided to work to support the efforts of the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General de Mistura to reach a "decisive and binding decision for the Moroccan regime to end its occupation of the Sahrawi territories", and reaffirmed the right of the Sahrawi Arab people to resist the occupation by all available means.
