SADR takes part at AU meetings on continental trade and merchandise exchange

Accra (Ghana), April 29, 2021 (SPS) - The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SPSD) took part these days in consultative meetings organized by the African Union (AU), in collaboration with the Specialized Committee on Trade, in order to draw up a continental roadmap for the exchange of goods and products between the countries of the continent.

Galician Parliament expresses its firm solidarity with Frente POLISARIO

Galicia, April 28, 2021 (SPS) - In a climate marked by the resumption of the armed struggle in the Western Sahara and the tensions generated by Morocco with neighboring countries, the Galician Parliament supported a motion this Wednesday in which expresses its firm support and solidarity with the Saharawi people and their legitimate representative, the Polisario Front, in accordance with the principles set forth in the Charter of Nations and in the resolutions adopted by the General Assembly and the United Nations Security Council.

Saharawi Republic takes part in UA virtual meeting on gender

Chahid El-Hafed, April 27, 2021 (SPS) - The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) took part Tuesday in a virtual meeting on gender organized by the African Union Commission specializing in gender.
During the meeting, in which SADR was represented by Ms. Mameha Chej, issues related to the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on gender were addressed, as well as the role of statistics in evaluating the effects of the pandemic on gender and the lessons learned, with the corresponding proposals to face the health crisis. France´s complicity with blocks Sahrawi issue at the UN

Algiers, April 27, 2021 (SPS) - The president of the Algerian National Committee for Solidarity with the Saharawi People (CNASPS), Said Ayachi, denounced, on Monday, the "complicity" of France with Morocco in blocking the Saharawi issue at the UN, stating that UN political process has failed since the post of the Secretary-General's personal envoy became vacant.

UN determined to appoint new Personal Envoy for Western Sahara

New York, 25 April 2021 (SPS) -The United Nations are determined to continue their efforts to appoint  a new Personal Envoy for Western Sahara, said Spokesperson of the UN Secretary General, while referring to the "difficulties" met in filling such a high-profile position.
When asked whether the UN still has no appropriate candidates to fill the two-year vacancy as Western Sahara envoy, Dujarric said finding a good candidate to replace Kohler is not the “easiest job on the UN roster.”

Bir Lahlou, April 22, 2021 (SPS) - The Presidency of the Republic announced in a communiqué received by "SPS" that the health of the President of the Republic Brahim Ghali, is not a cause for concern and that he is recovering, after he was tested positive for Corona virus.
The communiqué confirmed that president Brahim Ghali, has been under treatment and health monitoring for several days, following his infection with the Covid-19 virus.
It also reassured all citizens that the health condition of the president is not a cause for concern and that he is recovering.

UNSC inaction undermines prospects of peaceful solution and leaves the door open to escalation of the ongoing war

[New York – 22 April 2021] Today the UN Security Council held closed consultations on the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO), which offered another chance for the Council to demonstrate its effective commitment to the peaceful, just, and lasting solution to the decolonisation of Western Sahara and to translate that commitment into concrete actions. The Security Council however opted for inaction and delivered no substantive outcome.

Sahrawi Army carries out new attacks on Moroccan occupation forces

Bir Lahlou, 19 April 2021 (SPS) - Sahrawi People's Liberation Army (SPLA) has carried out new attacks against the positions of the Moroccan occupation forces along the sand wall, the Sahrawi ministry of Defence said in the military statement N° 158.
According to the same source, SPLA units on Saturday shelled positions of the Moroccan army, especially Ouedi Ziet area (sector of Farsia) and the Kelb Dhalim area (sector of Techla).

Frente POLISARIO: Morocco has obstructed the mission of UN Envoys and continues to reject nationals of certain countries

New York (UN) 16 April 2021 (SPS)- The Frente POLISARIO Representation at the United Nations underlined in a statement issued today that it is the Kingdom of Morocco that has so far blocked the appointment of the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Western Sahara in the same way in which it drove former Representatives to resign while continuing to reject any candidate from specific countries for fear of their neutrality.
