Frente POLISARIO expresses its satisfaction at ECJ decision, which excludes Western Sahara from the fishing agreement between Morocco and EU

Chahid El Hafed,  Feb 27, 2018 (SPS) - The Frente POLISARIO expressed its satisfaction with the European Court of Justice ruling today, which excludes the territorial waters of Western Sahara from the fishing agreement between Morocco and the European Union.
POLISARIO, in accordance with the decision of the European Court of Justice, called on all vessels fishing in the territorial waters of Western Sahara to withdraw immediately from their positions.
 

Celebration of the 42nd anniversary of the proclamation of the Saharawi Republic

The referendum on self-determination was organized on the sidelines of the International Conference of Solidarity with the Sahrawi People in their peaceful resistance.

Commission must reveal legal basis for authorizing EU imports of Sahrawi products

Smara (refugee camps), Feb 26, 2018 (SPS) - More than 400 Sahrawi and foreign runners from over 20 countries are participating in the 18th edition of Western Sahara Marathon, which kicked off Monday under the slogan "42 kilometres for 42 years of sacrifices."
The opening ceremony of the sporting and solidarity event was marked by the presence of the representative of the Political Organization, Sahrawi Minister of Youth and Sports Ahmed Lahbib Abdi, and the wali (governor) of Al Ayun, Mohamed Yeslem Beissat.

Wilaya of Smara (Refugee Camps), February 25, 2018 (SPS) - The works of the International Conference on Peaceful Resistance started Sunday morning in the wilaya of Smara in the Sahrawi Refugee Camps, under the name of Martyr Deida Uld Lyazid.
The event began in the presence of Responsible of the Political Organization of the Polisario, Front, Hama Salama, Minister of the Occupied Zones and Community Abroad, Bashir Mustafa Seyed, several official delegations from several countries, and a delegation of human rights from the Occupied Zones.

London, Feb 23, 2018 (SPS) - The Moroccan authorities used, in 2017, “unnecessary and excessive force” against the population of Western Sahara who claimed their right to self-determination and justice, affirmed the latest annual report of Amnesty International (AI) on the situation of human rights in the world, published on Thursday.
The authorities routinely used excessive and unnecessary force to disperse peaceful protests in Western Saharan cities, including Laayoune, Smara, Boujdour and Dakhla, » said teh report.

Lisbon, Feb 21, 2018 (SPS) - The UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, said on Monday at a press conference after being awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Lisbon that the African crises must be resolved by African leaders.
Guterres said he is "a great defender of African leadership" to solve the problems affecting the continent and that "the United Nations should be a focus of support for African initiatives."
