SADR president officially invited to participate in AU-EU Summit

Chahid El Hafed, Nov 01, 2017 (SPS) - President of the Sahrawi Arab and Democratic Republic (SADR) Brahim Gali has received an official invitation from the African Union (AU) Commissioner Moussa Faki Mahamat to participate in the 5th African Union-European Union Summit (AU-EU), planned in Abidjan (Côte d'Ivoire) on 29 - 30 November 2017, Sahrawi media said Wednesday.
 
Moussa Faki also sent invitations to the 55 member countries of the African Union.

42th Anniversary of the Moroccan Military Invasion to Western Sahara

Chahid El Hafed, Oct 31, 2017 (SPS) - On October 31, it coincides with the 42nd Anniversary of the Moroccan Military Invasion of Western Sahara, which took place in 1975, the date of the beginning of the repression and the tragedy of the Saharawi people at the hands of the Kingdom of Morocco.
 

Establishment of a Solidarity Committee with the Saharawi people in Brazil

Brasilia, Oct 31, 2017 (SPS) - The Committee for the Independence of Western Sahara has been established in the State of Bahia, as announced today by the Frente POLISARIO representative in Brazil.
The event was preceded by a series of lectures at Universities and meetings of the Frente POLISARIO representative in Brazil Emboirik Ahmed with Social Movements and Trade Unions.

Sahrawi political prisoners of Gdeim Izik group initiate warning hunger strike

Kuneitra (Morocco), Oct 30, 2017 (SPS) - Sahrawi political prisoners of Gdeim Izik group at the central prison of Kuneitra, Morocco, announced that they will initiate a 48-hour hunger strike starting from Wednesday.
According to a statement issued by the prisoners, the hunger strike is in protest against the ill-treatment they are subjected to by the prison administration and the false promises to improve their conditions, in addition to not providing the minimum living conditions in their cells.

CEAS-SAHARA calls for demonstration in support of Saharawi people

Madrid, October 30, 2017 (SPS) - The Coordination of Solidarity Associations with the Sahara (CEAS-Sahara) called on Sunday for a demonstration in support of the Saharawi people, in Spanish capital Madrid on November 11.
In a statement, the Organization called for a demonstration in solidarity of the Saharawi people, to demand that the UN imposes on Morocco respect for international resolutions and human rights in occupied zones of Western Sahara, and speed up the organization of the referendum in which the Saharawi people can freely decide their own future.

WSRW sheds light on ill exploration of oil near Dakhla

London, Oct 29, 2017 (SPS) -The Western Sahara Resource Watch (WSRW) on Saturday released a report in which it shed light on illegal exploration of oil for the second time by the US Company Kosmos Energy near Dakhla (Western Sahara).
Over the past 24 hours, WSRW has observed a resumed seabed exploration north of Dakhla, in the block operated by American oil company Kosmos Energy in collaboration with Scotland's Cairn Energy, WSRW said.

AU-EU Summit of Abidjan: Confirmed participation of SADR

MEPs denounce Morocco denying them access to Al-Ayun

Brussels, Oct 28, 2017 (SPS) - The euro-deputies have denounced on Friday the Moroccan occupying authorities to deny them access to the city of Al-Ayun, in Western Sahara.
They were going to visit the occupied territories to inquire about the situation of human rights.
"Upset" by her expulsion from the city of Al-Ayun, President of the European Parliament’s Intergroup "peace for Western Sahara", Jytte Guteland said that the purpose of her visit to the occupied territories of Western Sahara is to observe on the spot the situation of the human rights.

SADR receives memorandum from AU Commission confirming invitation of all Member States to AU-EU Partnership Summit

Shaheed El-Hafed, Oct 28, 2017 (SPS) - The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) on Friday received a memorandum from the African Union Commission confirming the participation of all African states, without exception, in the 5th African Union-European Union Partnership Summit to be held Abidjan on November 29-30, Côte d'Ivoire, in accordance with the decision of the Executive Board (Council of Foreign Ministers) during its special meeting in Addis Ababa on October 16, indicated the Ministry of Information in a statement. 

POLISARIO condemns arbitrary expulsion of a Euro-parliamentary delegation from Western Sahara

Brussels,  Oct 27, 2017 (SPS) - A delegation of European parliamentarians was prevented Friday at Laayoune airport from getting off the plane by the Moroccan authorities of occupation, as it was preparing to head for the occupied territories of Western Sahara to enquire about the situation of human rights, said Sahrawi Minister Delegate for Europe Mohamed Sidati.
 

European Aviation Agreement: Frente POLISARIO determined to defend Sahrawi people's rights

EU parliamentarian delegation travels to Occupied Territories of Western Sahara

Brussels, Belgium, Oct 27 2017 (SPS)-  A delegation of European parliamentarians of the Western Sahara Intergroup in the European Parliament traveled on Friday to the Occupied Zones of Western Sahara.
The delegation of five parliamentarians seeks to examine the human rights situation in the occupied part of Western Sahara and to meet with human rights organizations and representatives of Saharawi civil society in the territory.

Gdeim Izik Sahrawi political prisoners in Kenitra jail begin hunger strike of 48 hours

Kenitra (Morocco), Oct 27, 2017 (SPS) - Members of the group of Sahrawi political prisoners of Gdeim Izik imprisoned in the Moroccan prison of Kenitra on Wednesday began a hunger strike of 48 hours in protest of the terrible conditions in which they are suffering.
Members of the group of Sahrawi political prisoners of Gdeim Izik denounced, in a statement, "the inhumane conditions and threats they suffer inside the prison for their political convictions, which reject the Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara."
